  • Publication number: 20160155092
Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure provides a convenient user interface for interactively viewing the qualifications of people maintained in an ERP system. In an embodiment, a group of qualifications are displayed on a display screen. The user then provides identity of a person of interest. Only those of the qualifications possessed by the user are highlighted on the display screen. The user can select a different user to have the corresponding (possessed) qualifications highlighted. According to another aspect of the present disclosure, the user first selects a list of persons of interest. The list of such selected persons are also displayed on a portion of the display screen along with the qualifications in other portions. According to yet another aspect when a displayed qualification is selected, those of the displayed persons possessing the selected qualification are highlighted.

  • Patent number: 8834911
Abstract: A device for use in combination with a fluid flow having a biologic component and subject to an adverse response to shear stress includes a surface in contact with the flow of the fluid. The surface has a longitudinal direction extending from a leading end toward a trailing end and aligned with a direction of the flow. The surface is susceptible to inducing boundary layer formation within the flow sufficient for a resulting shear stress to induce the response. The surface includes a surface feature sufficient to induce boundary layer tripping in the flow to retard growth of boundary layer formation along the length.

  • Publication number: 20130258725
Abstract: Systems and methods for balancing current from an AC source. The method includes determining a difference between a DC voltage output by a rectifier in an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to a DC reference voltage. The method also includes determining an error between the DC voltage and the DC reference voltage based at least in part on the difference. After determining the error, the method includes filtering a second order harmonic from the error thereby generating a filtered error. The method may then include determining one or more switching signals for one or more switching components in the rectifier based at least in part on the filtered error and sending the switching signals to the rectifier.

  • Patent number: 8206594
Abstract: A novel system and method for fluid management for accurate continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CWH) in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The fluid management or CWH system is automated and configured for operation as a stand alone unit and can be easily integrated with an ECMO system. The fluid management system is capable of producing either perfect or negative fluid balance between ultrafiltrate removal and replacement fluid delivery. The fluid management system can achieve electrolyte replacement over a range of flow rates needed to care for patients ranging from neonates to adults. Finally, the novel fluid management system preserves patient safety, maintains sterility during operation, is easy to operate, and is compact enough to fit near a patient's bed.

  • Patent number: 7811244
Abstract: A device for use in the total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) in order to optimize its hemodynamics. Although the current procedure of choice for single ventricle heart repairs, the TCPC has reduced the post-operative mortality to the level of simpler types of congenital heart disease repairs, Fontan patients are still subjected to serious long-term complications. The TCPC procedure, which restores the vital separation between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood, also leads to an increased workload for the remaining single ventricle, as it is now responsible for pumping the blood through both the systemic and pulmonary circulation. The present device reduces this workload by altering the surgically created design of the TCPC. Improved fluid mechanics and reduced energy dissipation at the connection site translates into less work for the single ventricle and improved transport of deoxygenated blood to the lungs, which may in turn contribute to improved post-operative results and quality of life.
