  • Patent number: 9839065
Abstract: A base station may establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a first user device. The base station may determine a bearer attribute of a bearer associated with the RRC connection and the first user device. The base station may determine that the bearer attribute satisfies a set of conditions, and may analyze multiple bearer attributes associated with multiple established RRC connections. The base station may select a terminable RRC connection, of the multiple established RRC connections, based on analyzing the multiple bearer attributes. The terminable RRC connection may be associated with a second user device that is different from the first user device, and the terminable RRC connection may be different from the RRC connection. The device may terminate the terminable RRC connection based on selecting the terminable RRC connection.

  • Publication number: 20170345055
Abstract: A device may broadcast content (e.g., using Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS), evolved MBMS (eMBMS), or Cell Broadcast Service (CBS)); determine that a user device has received the content; determine analytics information regarding the user device; identify, based on the analytics information, personalized content for the user device; and output, to the user device, the personalized content. The user device may receive the broadcasted content; present the broadcasted content; output an indication that the broadcasted content is being presented; receive the personalized content that was generated based on the outputted indication; and present the personalized content in conjunction with the broadcasted content.

  • Patent number: 9832697
Abstract: Techniques described herein may enable a wireless telecommunications network to implement different types of core networks, and enable end devices—user equipment (UEs) such as broadband devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets) and Internet of Things (IoT)/Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices (sometimes referred to herein as Machine-to-Machine (M2M) devices)—to connect to whichever core network is most suitable to the capabilities of the UE. For example, a broadband core network may provide UEs with broadband connectivity for media sessions (e.g., telephone calls, video calls, etc.) and broadband Internet access. An M2M core network may provide UEs with network connectivity consistent with the lower resource usage patterns typical M2M devices. Additionally, a UE connected to a first core network (e.g., an M2M core network) may detect a prompt to connect to a second core network (e.g., a broadband core network), and in response, may dynamically switch to the second core network.

  • Publication number: 20170331861
Abstract: A method may include receiving, at a serving call session control function (S-CSCF) device, from a home subscriber server (HSS), a subscriber profile that includes a first subscription state associated with a user device. The first subscription state is one of a plurality of subscription states in addition to barred and not barred. The method includes routing messages to at least one of a plurality of application server devices based on at least one initial filter criteria (iFC) associated with the first subscription state. The method also includes receiving, at the S-CSCF device and from the HSS, a subscription state change to a second subscription state from the HSS, wherein the second subscription state is one of the plurality of subscription states. The method further includes identifying at least one iFC associated with the second subscription state, and routing messages to at least one of the plurality of application servers based on the at least one iFC associated with the second subscription state.

  • Patent number: 9818303
Abstract: Flight path determination for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in which three-dimensional coverage information, corresponding to a wireless network, is used to optimize the flight path to ensure that the UAVs maintain network coverage throughout the flight. The flight path information may be provided as a service to UAV operators. In one implementation, network coverage for a cellular network may be mapped in a three-dimensional manner. That is, the radio signal strength of the network may be mapped at various heights that correspond to heights at which UAVs are likely to fly.

  • Patent number: 9807029
Abstract: A method for determining a Quality of Service (QoS) policy can be based on requested bandwidth. The method may initially receive a connection request which includes a requested bandwidth that corresponds to an application. The method may then determine a policy for an application data flow associated with the application based on the connection request. A bandwidth designation, which is based on the requested bandwidth, may be assigned to the application data flow based on the determined policy. Finally, the policy and the bandwidth designation may be provided so that a bearer can be assigned.

  • Patent number: 9742814
Abstract: A selective call blocking function (SCBF) device, included in an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS), processes a request to establish an IP call on an LTE network, such as a voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) call. The SCBF device identifies a user equipment (UE) associated with the IP call and an associated eNode B (eNB). For example, the SCBF may access a subscriber location memory to determine a location of the UE and an eNB associated with the location. The SCBF determines whether the eNB supports the IP call, and permits the IP call to be established via the IMS when the eNB supports the IP call. When the eNB does not support the IP call, the SCBF blocks the IP call and initiates a non-IP call, such as a 1× call, to the UE to prevent communications interruptions.

  • Patent number: 9743316
Abstract: A system may be configured to receive analytics information regarding a cell of a wireless telecommunications network. The cell may be associated with multiple carriers, which may each be associated with, for example, a particular radio access technology (“RAT”), frequency band, or frequency sub-band. The system may dynamically rank the carriers based on measures of load associated with the carriers (as indicated by the analytics information), and may generate system information blocks (“SIBs”) that include the dynamic rankings. The SIBs may be provided to user devices, which may select carriers, via which to connect to the cell, based on the dynamic rankings.

  • Patent number: 9722887
Abstract: A device is configured to receive packet timing data, from multiple network devices, for subscriber application traffic over an Internet Protocol (IP) wireless access network and to calculate, based on the packet timing data, timing latencies for a particular subscriber flow. The device is configured to retrieve Quality of Service (QoS) timing specifications for the particular subscriber flow and to determine when the calculated timing latencies for the particular subscriber flow fail to meet the QoS timing specifications for the particular subscriber flow. The device is configured to identify one or more of the network devices that are causing the particular subscriber flow to fail to meet the QoS timing specifications and to instruct the one or more of the network devices to modify QoS parameters for the particular subscriber flow to improve timing latency for the particular subscriber flow.

  • Publication number: 20170208647

  • Patent number: 9713167
Abstract: A system may receive a bandwidth allocation policy, may allocate first bandwidth to a first set of queues based on the bandwidth allocation policy, and may allocate second bandwidth to a second set of queues based on the bandwidth allocation policy. The system may identify a first characteristic associated with packets, and may store information associated with the packets in first queues based on the first characteristic. The system may identify a second characteristic associated with the packets, and may store information associated with the packets, from the first queues, in second queues, based on the second characteristic, the allocated first bandwidth, and the bandwidth allocation policy. The system may store information associated with the packets, from the second queues, in an output queue based on the allocated second bandwidth and the bandwidth allocation policy, and may service the packets from the output queue for delivery to a device.
