  • Patent number: 5889435
Abstract: An ASIC includes a PLL and digital circuitry to quantize and measure phase and average maximum jitter between a system clock input to the PLL, and a PLL-generated clock signal. The system clock is input to a series-string of delay elements, each contributing a delay of about 1.DELTA.t. Each delay element is associated with a two-input logic element, such as an EX-OR gate or an EX-NOR gate. One input to each two-input logic element is a version of the PLL-generated clock delayed by about (N/2) .DELTA.t. The second input to the first EX-OR is the output from the first delay element, the second input to the first EX-NOR is the output from the second delay element, and so on. Whichever delay element outputs a signal most closely in phase with the delayed PLL-generated clock will have an associated two-input logic element signal with a minimum duty cycle. Each two-input logic element output signal is capacitor integrated, sampled, stored and digitized.

  • Patent number: 5384148
Abstract: Caramel confections which facilitate coating, depositing, molding and baking are prepared from a finely divided solid candy phase dispersed within a continuous fat phase. These products differ from conventional caramel products which are based on sugars and milk protein and typically exhibit a chewy texture but are difficult to mold or to otherwise handle. A powdered caramel brittle material is made by sheeting, cooling and grinding a caramel prepared by cooking aqueous milk solids with sugar to a moisture level of below 6%. Preferably, from 5 to 35% of the powdered caramel brittle is mixed with 30 to 60% granulated sugar, 17 to 40% fat, and 10 to 25% milk solids. The mixture is refined to obtain an average particle size of 0.0004 to 0.0020 inches, mixed with an emulsifying agent and additional vegetable fat, and heated as necessary to reduce the moisture level.

  • Patent number: 5329693
Abstract: A hydraulic tool for safely separating one multipin electrical connector from another. The preferred separation tool consists of a master cylinder which operates a pair of slave cylinders, each slave cylinder having a corresponding operative shaft and an extraction tab. The slave cylinders are variably spaced apart from one another such that they may be positioned on either side of mated connector pairs of different sizes and so that their extraction tabs may be slid between the connectors. When the master cylinder's plunger is operated, such operation is hydraulically transmitted to the operative shafts of the slave cylinders which extend outward and, once pressed against a substrate, causes the slave cylinders and corresponding extractor tabs to move away and separate one connector from the other. A second preferred separation tool includes an additional pair of extractor tabs, one at the end of each operative shaft, so that the tool can be used to separated a mated connector pair hanging in free space.

  • Patent number: 4869179
Abstract: A replaceable part pallet designed to be assembled from two moldable shapes, one being a beam and the other being a slat with projections to extend through holes contained in the beams so that a single rod may be installed longitudinally through each beam and through projections on the slats to hold slats firmly fastened to three or more beams to form the pallet.

  • Patent number: 4589632
Abstract: A locking mechanism has a threaded housing mounted in one member of a jack/vehicle assembly. The housing has a locking pin which threadably moves through the housing and extends into a socket in the other member off center from the jack swivel point thus locking the jack in position and providing support for the trailer. The locking pin has a taper at its extension end which provides positive locking pin engagement with the socket and compensates for wear. Extension and retraction of the locking pin is performed by screwing the pin into or out of the housing. The locking pin is retained in the housing through the use of retaining pins thus obstructing disassembly of the locking mechanism and possible loss of the locking pin in the field.

  • Patent number: 4055757
Abstract: A programmable electronic calculator is provided having a manually operable annuity switch with begin- and end-position settings, enabling a user to specify the type of annuity calculation to be performed. When the switch is set to the begin position, the annuity calculation is performed with payments due at the beginning of each payment period; when the switch is set to the end position, the annuity calculation is performed with payments due at the end of each payment period. The annuity calculation is performed under control of a routine stored in a read-only-memory (ROM) of a data processing unit.
