  • Patent number: 9107190
Abstract: A method includes operating a user equipment to initiate monitoring of a control channel associated with a particular component carrier for determining if the user equipment is scheduled by the control channel associated with the particular component carrier. In response to determining that the user equipment is not scheduled, autonomously terminating the monitoring of the control channel associated with the particular component carrier. A further method includes establishing a set of rules defining how and when a user equipment autonomously deactivates use of component carriers transmitted by a network access node. The network access node assumes, in response to the network access node not scheduling the user equipment in a control channel of a particular component carrier for some period, that the user equipment has autonomously deactivated monitoring of the control channel of the particular component carrier.

  • Patent number: 9059845
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments of the invention utilize techniques that provide an amount of scheduling flexibility for retransmissions (e.g., downlink HARQ retransmissions) while also limiting the amount of time within which a UE can expect retransmissions. Thus, the network retains scheduling flexibility while the UE can still operate in DRX, for example. In one exemplary embodiment, a method includes: receiving an initial transmission of information; and receiving a retransmission of the information, where the retransmission is received within a window of time having a predetermined duration, where the window of time is arranged to begin at a predetermined time or after a predetermined time interval. In further exemplary embodiments, the predetermined duration of the window of time is measured using a DRX retransmission timer and/or the predetermined time or the predetermined time interval is measured using a HARQ RTT timer.

  • Patent number: 9026058
Abstract: A network sends to a user equipment UE a range indicator by which a private cell can be distinguished from a non-private cell, a first indicator that indicates whether or not to report private cells in a measurement report, and a second indicator that indicates which private cells are to have their measurements reported. The UE receives these, in an embodiment all in a same message. The UE uses the second indicator to identify at least one cell to report and the received range indicator to distinguish private cells from non-private cells; measures a signal from the identified at least one cell which is determined by the range indicator to be a private cell; and sends to the network a measurement report that comprises a measurement indication from the identified and determined at least one private cell. The network receives from the UE that measurement report.
