  • Patent number: 6963741
Abstract: A method and device for controlling resources to avoid congestion in a cellular radio system having a mobile terminal connectable to a network via one or more base stations. When the mobile terminal sends an uplink signal, each base station receives a different uplink signal due to different radio paths between the mobile terminal and the base station. A resulting signal corresponding to the uplink signal sent from the mobile terminal is derived from the received signals, and the importance of each received signal to the resulting signal is determined. If there is a shortage or a projected shortage of resources to handle current or projected traffic demand in the base station, downlink radio links from the base station to the mobile terminal are prioritized according to the determined importance of each received uplink signal, and resources are freed from lower priority downlink radio links to avoid congestion.

  • Patent number: 6702975
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for manufacturing an electrical insulator that includes a body (1) and a coating (5, 5a) of insulating material arranged on the body (1) where the coating is applied onto the body in a screw-like form or a helical-like form, whereby the coating is applied by extrusion directly on the body (1). In this way, the build-up trapped pockets of air between the applied coating and the body (1) is prevented, and good adhesion is achieved. The invention also concerns an apparatus for manufacturing an insulator as well as the use of the said method or apparatus for the manufacturing of a high voltage insulator.

  • Patent number: 6368574
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of contrast agent-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of perfusion in vasculated tissue within a human or non-human animal body in which a bolus comprising a contrast-enhancing amount of a magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent is administered into the vascular system of said body, and said body is subjected to a magnetic resonance imaging procedure whereby signals or images representative of first pass of said contrast agent bolus through tissue of interest are generated, characterised in that (i) said contrast agent is capable of exhibiting simultaneous, determinable T1 and T2* reducing effects under the imaging procedure employed and (ii) a T1-weighted imaging procedure is used (a) to visualise the first pass of said contrast agent bolus through said tissue by virtue of its signal lowering T2* effect and (b) to obtain a T1-weighted contrast agent-enhanced image of said tissue.

  • Patent number: 6163694
Abstract: In an effort to have a mobile station choose a lowest level cell to lock onto, a method and apparatus for standby state cell selection in a layered cellular telephone system is proposed. Upon entering a standby state, the mobile station is provided with parameters containing a value for a minimum threshold downlink signal strength level and information pertaining to hierarchical levels associated with a plurality of cells within the cellular telephone system. The mobile station measures downlink signal strengths of a plurality of radio frequencies transmitted by the plurality of cells and selects a cell having a lowest level in the hierarchy of cells which transmits a radio frequency having a greatest downlink signal strength, the downlink signal further having a signal strength above the minimum threshold level.

  • Patent number: 5839863
Abstract: A parking device for parking a handtruck on the floor of a truck or like vehicle so as to prevent accidental movement of the handtruck on the floor during movement of the truck. The device includes a frame which is comprised of two frame parts, of which the first part is longer and thicker than the second part and is beveled on one side for facilitating movement of a handtruck onto the parking device. The first part extends at both of its ends beyond the second part which is joined generally at right angles to the first part inwardly from the ends of the first part. A cavity defined by the second part of the frame receives the wheels of the handtruck, whereas the upper surface of the first part supports the remainder of the handtruck and thus the general weight thereof.

  • Patent number: 5736416
Abstract: A P-type diffusion layer for buried channel is formed on the surface of N-well immediately below a gate electrode, then a side wall spacer is formed at the side surface of the gate electrode. Subsequently, with taking the gate electrode and the side wall spacer as mask, phosphorous ion is implanted to the N-well by oblique rotating ion implantation and boron fluoride ion is implanted by perpendicular ion implantation. Then, phosphorous ion and boron fluoride ion are activated by heat treatment to form high density P-type diffusion layer and P-type diffusion layer for buried channel.
