  • Publication number: 20030179074
Abstract: A method of configuring a lock system comprising a plurality of lock system devices comprises the following steps: defining a plurality of command and status messages, wherein each of the messages has a specific function when received by a device, defining a plurality of device types, wherein each of the types can send predetermined command and status messages, sending a claiming message from each device, wherein the claiming message from a specific device comprises information relating to the predetermined messages that said specific device can send, and storing, in each of the devices, the information relating to the predetermined messages that every other device can send. By this method, a simple lock system can be set up without involvement of the person installing the system. A lock system and a lock system device using this method are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20030131490
Abstract: In order to check and measure the skewness of crashed cars before as well as during and after repair it is known to use rulers provided with perpendicularly extending mandrels in both ends, and it is also known to use a ruler that is provided with a magnetic fastening means in one end. These devices are simple and easy to use and provide a surprisingly great precision in work. In reality however one must write down taken measures of remember them between measurements. Furthermore the precision is dependent of the skill or practice of the user of the device since an inclining of the device may change the result, also that the skill at reading a scale and the reading conditions exert a strong influence.

  • Patent number: 6427800
Abstract: The invention relates to a sound-attenuating ear plug, comprising an elongate elastic body (103) adapted to be inserted at least partially into an auditory meatus. A foil (117) which is rounded in the longitudinal direction (115) of the body (103) and which is extended transversely of this longitudinal direction (115) is responsible for the major part of the sound-attenuating effect of the ear plug. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such an ear plug.

  • Publication number: 20020066117
Abstract: A transgenic animal, preferably a mouse, that expresses human antichymotrypsin (ACT) in brain tissues is provided, together with animal tissue-derived cell lines and progeny animals of said transgenic animal. Progeny are obtained by mating the transgenic animal with select animal strains used as models of Alzheimer's disease, related neurological disorders, or amyloidogenic diseases. Methods utilizing the parent and progeny animals and cells derived therefrom are disclosed for testing compounds for use as anti-inflammatory drugs, inhibitors of amyloidogenesis, and/or inhibitors of tau protein pathology associated with Alzheimer's disease, in the treatment of a variety of neurological diseases.

  • Patent number: 6357144
Abstract: Method for drying wood raw material (10) by means of hot gases (20) supplied to the drying process, in which VOC, apart from water, evaporate from the wood raw material into the gases. The drying process is divided and carried out in at least two sub-steps (I, II), from which process gas (22, 33) is removed separately, and the drying process is thus controlled that VOC evaporate during one of the sub-steps, and the VOC are concentrated to this sub-step. The temperature of the gas containing VOC is increased to a temperature exceeding 180° C. before VOC are oxidized catalytically at said elevated temperature, in order to reduce the discharge of VOC from the drying process.

  • Patent number: 6283741
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for spreading and distributing particles such as glue-coated wood fibers onto a moving web including rotatable axles disposed transverse to the direction of movement of the moving web with each axle including a number of distributors rotatable with the axles and disposed generally obliquely with respect to the axes of the axles, each of the axles disposed at successively increasing heights from the moving web in its direction of movement whereby each of the distributors extends into the wood fiber particles comprising the moving web and distributes the particles across the moving web.

  • Patent number: 6185938
Abstract: A five-cylinder turbocharged internal combustion engine has an exhaust manifold (6-10) connected to a turbine housing (13). Four exhaust manifold conduits (7, 8, 9, 10) lead in pairs to the inlets (11, 12) of a twin-entry turbine (14). The fifth exhaust manifold conduit (6) is drawn past the turbine housing and opens into an exhaust pipe (18) on the downstream side of the turbine housing.

  • Patent number: 6092304
Abstract: A blowbox for use in a plant for drying a material web includes an essentially horizontal box wall having formed therein circular orifices and eyelid perforations each of which includes a slit extending in parallel with the center line of the upper box wall. A depression is formed m the upper box wall adjacent one side of the slit. The eyelid perforations are arranged in two rows and parallel with the center line and together they form a zigzag pattern about the center line that intersects the depressions of the eyelid perforations in both rows. The orifices are disposed in a first and second pair of rows with both rows in each pair positioned on either side of and spaced equally from the center line. The upper box wall has a shallow continuous arcuate shape across its entire width.

  • Patent number: 5983975
Abstract: A method of die casting a cylinder block of aluminum wherein cylinder liners of another material are cast in. A cylinder insert component (14) is placed in the liner, leaving a gap (a) between the outer surface of the insert component and the inner surface of the liner. Pressurized aluminum melt flows against the outside of the liner and is allowed to flow into the gap via a passage (22) between the lower edge of the liner and a lower insert component (15), so that there will be the same pressure on the outside and inside of the liner. The aluminum inside the liner is then machined away.

  • Patent number: 5636445
Abstract: A method for the measuring of symmetry when in particular repairing cars including the use of a measurement bar comprising in each end a laser head that can be swiveled around the length axis of the bar. The laser heads can emit light beams perpendicular to the length axis of the bar. The bar is on a straightening bench (on which the car is mounted) mounted perpendicular to the length axis of the car. When the laser heads are swiveled their beams construct parallel planes on each side of the car from which measures can be taken to the sides of the car in order to establish if symmetry exist or how great the necessary correction has to be.

  • Patent number: 5446973
Abstract: A process and an apparatus for desorption, e.g. desorbing a solvent, from a bedding (4) of adsorbent material (14), e.g. activated carbon, by means of a hot gas flow, e.g. air, so that a wave of concentration induces, which goes through the bedding by means of the hot gas flow. The invention is characterized in that the concentration wave is controlled to reach the gas flow outlet of the bedding surface successively.

  • Patent number: 5240475
Abstract: Method and apparatus for separating one or more agents, specially solvents, from gases. The agent or the agents are adsorbed by an adsorbent and thereafter desorbed and separated in a condenser (18). The regeneration of the adsorbent includes two steps. In the first step the agent or the agents are separated from a part of the adsorbent by heating. In this way the concentration of the agent or the agents is increased in those parts of the adsorbent which are closest to the condenser. In a second step the remaining parts of the adsorbent are regenerated.
