  • Publication number: 20080109058
Abstract: An intraoperative anastomosis method is described and comprises the steps of providing an intraluminal prosthesis having a first end and a second end; suturing a first vessel to a second vessel to form a vessel junction; intraluminally delivering the prosthesis so that the first end of the prosthesis is disposed within the first vessel and the second end of the prosthesis is disposed within the second vessel; and deploying the prosthesis so that the prosthesis overlaps and reinforces the vessel junction. The vessel suturing, prosthesis delivering, and prosthesis deploying steps may be performed in a single operation. Other devices, systems, and methods are described.

  • Publication number: 20070126472
Abstract: A system and method for reducing reflections in a transmission line and for recovering energy from the load in the transmission during the process. At least three drive signal levels are utilized. The transition from the second level to the third level during a rising transition and the transition from the second level to the first level during a falling transition is timed to coincide with the arrival of the reflected signal from the immediately-preceding transition. A capacitor is advantageously used as the source for the intermediate drive signal levels and advantageously facilitates energy recovery and conservation.

  • Patent number: 7205807
Abstract: A method and apparatus for minimizing harmonic content in a digital signal driver circuit are disclosed. A digital input signal applied to an input node generates a corresponding digital output in a circuit with two or more MOS devices in cascode connection with each other. The slew rate of leading or trailing edge transitions associated with the output signal are controlled using one or more parasitic capacitances associated with the fabrication of two or cascode connected MOS devices. The two or more cascode connected MOS devices may further each have gate electrodes connected to a fixed potential so as to minimize the harmonic content. A control signal may further be applied to each gate electrode to turn off a leakage current path between source and drain electrodes. Harmonics may further be controlled by limiting a conductance between gate electrodes and fixed potentials using an active or passive device.

  • Publication number: 20060071924
Abstract: Power-efficient, pulsed driving of capacitive loads to controllable voltage levels, with particular applicability to LCDs. Energy stored in a portion of the capacitive load is recovered during a recovery phase. Time-varying signals are used to drive the load and to recover the stored energy, thus minimizing power losses, using processes named adiabatic charging and adiabatic discharging.

  • Patent number: 6954489
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus enables interfering signals in a communications system to be efficiently identified using correlation calculations. Once identified, the interfering signals may be rejected and removed from further processing in a receiver. The number of mathematical operations required to determine correlates of multiple training sequences to received sequences (e.g., at multiple offsets) may be reduced by up to eighty percent (80%) in a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) implementation. In accordance with certain embodiments, a correlation equation is manipulated, for example, to eliminate certain products by ensuring that they equate to zero, to eliminate redundant calculations by recognizing repeated subsequences, to eliminate common subexpressions, to determine a negative of a correlation result, etc. The manipulated correlation equation is then utilized within a receiver.

  • Patent number: 6878292
Abstract: A filter device has a filter housing, which is intended to contain a liquid to be filtered and in which at least one filter rod is arranged. The filter rod is composed of annular washers, which are arranged in a stack on a core formed with openings and which are so closely packed that particles in the liquid adhere to the periphery of the washers when the liquid is caused, from the outside, to pass between the washers into the core for filtration. The filter device has a gas supply member, which is intended to inject a gas flow into the liquid in the filter housing. In a method of cleaning a filter rod for filtering a particle-containing liquid in such a filter device, a gas flow is injected into the liquid in the filter housing so that a particle sock, which is formed on said filter rod of particles in the liquid, is detached from the filter rod and disintegrated.

  • Patent number: 6822495
Abstract: An exemplary skew-tolerant true-single-phase-clocking (TSPC) flip-flop is disclosed that reduces current spikes by allowing willful introduction of skew in the clock tree of a single-phase circuit design. More precisely, a split-clock TSPC flip-flop, which allows the flip-flop hold times to be met in the face of skewed clocks, which, in turn, reduces the maximum value of current spikes, can be substituted for a traditional TSPC flip-flop in a sequential logic circuit. The input of the split-clock TSPC flip-flop is latched according to a first clock signal, which was used in a preceding stage, while the output of the split-clock TSPC flip-flop is driven according to a second clock signal. The first and second clock signals can be skewed in time, but have the same frequency and substantially the same phase. Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) device can also be included within the split-clock TSPC flip-flop to reduce power dissipation in cases of large clock skew.

  • Patent number: 6711694
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided that helps address the electromagnetic compatibility issues arising from the integration of digital circuitry and analog circuitry within a wireless mobile terminal (for example). Basically, the apparatus includes a clock generator capable of generating an unmodulated clock signal and a modulator capable of generating a modulated clock signal having selected clock pulses omitted from the unmodulated clock signal. The modulated clock signal includes a fundamental frequency and a plurality of harmonic frequencies that exhibit a known sideband configuration. The known sideband configuration can be selected such that there would be less harmonic content in a band where co-located analog circuitry could be adversely affected by electro-magnetic interference from the modulated clock signal.

  • Publication number: 20040053596
Abstract: In a radio receiver, clock distribution changes, that is, enabling or disabling the clock signals to specific circuit blocks at specific times to reduce power consumption, can cause changes in the DC offset level. Knowledge about clock distribution changes can be used to improve receiver performance. Specifically, information about clock distribution changes is stored during signal reception, and used to predict the presence of DC offset step changes.
