  • Publication number: 20030210085
Abstract: An exemplary skew-tolerant true-single-phase-clocking (TSPC) flip-flop is disclosed that reduces current spikes by allowing willful introduction of skew in the clock tree of a single-phase circuit design. More precisely, a split-clock TSPC flip-flop, which allows the flip-flop hold times to be met in the face of skewed clocks, which, in turn, reduces the maximum value of current spikes, can be substituted for a traditional TSPC flip-flop in a sequential logic circuit. The input of the split-clock TSPC flip-flop is latched according to a first clock signal, which was used in a preceding stage, while the output of the split-clock TSPC flip-flop is driven according to a second clock signal. The first and second clock signals can be skewed in time, but have the same frequency and substantially the same phase. Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) device can also be included within the split-clock TSPC flip-flop to reduce power dissipation in cases of large clock skew.

  • Patent number: 6647540
Abstract: A method for designing a synchronous digital circuit that exploits clock skew so as to reduce EMI and IR-drop. The circuit has a plurality of storage elements connected to combinational logic blocks, each of the storage elements being driven by a clock signal distributed from a clock device; and the method involves substantially maximizing the clock skew in the circuit subject to one or more constraints on the design of the circuit.

  • Publication number: 20030178376
Abstract: A filter device has a filter housing, which is intended to contain a liquid to be filtered and in which at least one filter rod is arranged. The filter rod is composed of annular washers, which are arranged in a stack on a core formed with openings and which are so closely packed that particles in the liquid adhere to the periphery of the washers when the liquid is caused, from the outside, to pass between the washers into the core for filtration. The filter device has a gas supply member, which is intended to inject a gas flow into the liquid in the filter housing.

  • Publication number: 20020118730
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus enables interfering signals in a communications system to be efficiently identified using correlation calculations. Once identified, the interfering signals may be rejected and removed from further processing in a receiver. The number of mathematical operations required to determine correlates of multiple training sequences to received sequences (e.g., at multiple offsets) may be reduced by up to eighty percent (80%) in a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) implementation. In accordance with certain embodiments, a correlation equation is manipulated, for example, to eliminate certain products by ensuring that they equate to zero, to eliminate redundant calculations by recognizing repeated subsequences, to eliminate common subexpressions, to determine a negative of a correlation result, etc. The manipulated correlation equation is then utilized within a receiver.

  • Patent number: 6429622
Abstract: A portable battery-operated electronic device authenticates/identifies a charging unit in order to prevent an incompatible and/or poorly designed or constructed charging unit from possibly damaging the portable battery-operated electronic device. The authentication/identification is effectuated over a wireless interface (e.g., using Bluetooth transceivers) when a portable battery-operated electronic device detects connection to a charging unit. The portable battery-operated electronic device requests data related to source and/or compatibility of the charging unit. If data is received and it indicates a proper source and/or compatibility, the portable battery-operated electronic device permits the charging. Otherwise, the portable battery-operated electronic device executes an action, such as preventing charging and/or memorializing information about the risky charging.

  • Patent number: 6152309
Abstract: A conveying arrangement includes a path selector including a selector slide that is selectively positionable at first and second positions, thereby connecting a first conveyor path with a first further conveyor path or a second further conveyor path. The selector slide is actuated by a guide arm that moves the slide from the first position to the second position, and vice versa. The selector slide is locked firmly in at least one of the positions by a locking arm that is moved to and from a locking position by the guide arm. The selector slide may have a fixed pin that interacts with a first recess or aperture formed in the locking arm, and the recess may have first and second pin-receiving end positions corresponding to the first and second positions of the selector slide. The guide arm may be pivotally mounted and have a second recess or aperture that actuates the fixed pin and a locking-arm actuating guide pin that interacts with a camming surface on the locking arm.

  • Patent number: 6018834
Abstract: Method for building bridges and bridge built according to the method especially a girder bridge with one, two or more girders or longitudinal beams resting on supports at abutments or the like. The novelty lies therein that the girder or longitudinal beams have end portions extending beyond the supports at the abutments and that between such extending ends and the abutments are arranged anchoring devices which after being fixed to the ends of the extending ends of each girder exert a supporting moment to the portion of the girders between the abutments.

  • Patent number: 5926091
Abstract: The present invention concerns an alarm device for computer units (13a, 13b) which, via a network of twisted pair type, are connected to a common hub (3). The computer units (13a 13b) are arranged to be connected to a first alarm unit (4) corresponding to the respective computer unit. This incorporates an input (25) for connection to the hub, an output (23) for operational connection to a network board in a computer unit corresponding to the alarm unit, and a connection (22) for interconnection with a second alarm unit (5; 7) or a connection unit (10). In the device according to the invention, an alarm center (1) is operationally connected to the hub, which is arranged to transmit a request generated in the alarm center to the first alarm unit (4) and to notify the alarm center when a change occurs in the computer units (13a, 13b) associated with the alarm centers.

  • Patent number: 5473526
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently charging and discharging a capacitive load from a single voltage source. The system includes a first switch for selectively connecting the voltage source to the load and a second switch for selectively providing a short across the load as may be common in the art. A particularly novel aspect of the invention resides in the provision of plural capacitive elements and a switching mechanism for selectively connecting each of the capacitive elements to the load whereby the load is gradually charged or discharged. In the illustrative embodiment, the switching mechanism includes a set of switches for selectively connecting each of the capacitive elements to the capacitive load and a switch control mechanism for selectively activating the switches.

  • Patent number: 3987593
Abstract: A post for use in, for example, street-lighting, comprising a number of substantially longitudinal stiffening rods of a suitable material, such as steel, fastened to an interior or exterior shell of a suitable material, such as steel. The novel matter of the invention is that the connections which give the different parts of the pole their static cooperation, are broken at a certain measure of transverse stress caused by, for example, collision with a motor vehicle, so that the pole's strength and resistance to deformation are greatly reduced.
