  • Patent number: 8001508
Abstract: A method for optimizing pin selection for an integrated circuit is provided. Pin locations are mapped to a vector. The mutual inductive relationships between pins of the integrated circuit are captured into a matrix. The matrix contains the data of how a signal state of each pin is affected by the toggling of other pins within the I/O bank. The pin locations and the crosstalk matrix are combined to characterize the impact of the crosstalk on the pins for the pin placement. Thereafter, a user may decide to alter the pin placement or alter the sampling interval for the pin to avoid sampling the pin when the crosstalk may affect the signal integrity. The method may be applied for multiple simultaneous switching noise cause mechanisms impacting the signal integrity. In this embodiment, a worst case cause mechanism from the individually quantified cause mechanisms is determined by comparing an impact of each of the cause mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20110187747
Abstract: A hidden image method comprising: obtaining a first image and a second image, the first and second images providing between them a hidden image and a decoder such that a hidden image is decoded by the decoder when the first image and the second image are superposed at least one decoding position; printing the first image onto a light transmissive substrate to produce a printed substrate; displaying the second image on an electronic display; and superposing the printed substrate relative to the display at a decoding position to decode the hidden image.

  • Patent number: 7987400
Abstract: A method for optimizing scan chains in an integrated circuit that has multiple levels of hierarchy addresses unlimited chains and stumps and separately all other chains and stumps. Unlimited chains and stumps are optimized by dividing an area encompassed by the chains and by a start point and an end point of the stump into a grid comprised of a plurality of grid boxes, and determining a grid box to grid box connectivity route to access all of the grid boxes between the start point and the end point by means of a computer running a routing algorithm. All other chains and stumps are optimized randomly assigning to a stump a chain that can be physically reached by that stump and adding an additional chain to that stump based on the number of latches in the additional chain, its physical location, and the number of latches already assigned.

  • Patent number: 7979838
Abstract: The process of laying out a floorplan for a clock control distribution network in an integrated chip design is simplified and the efficiency of a staging network created is improved. Rather than manually create the staging network in HDL or as a network description table while looking at a picture of the chip floorplan in a Cadence Viewer, an automated method which runs in the Cadence environment uses an algorithmic approach to the problem of maximizing the utilization of staging latches, eliminating unnecessary power and area usage. Efficiency is maximized by updating the Physical Layout directly with the staging solution arrived at by the algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20110150361
Abstract: A hidden image method comprising forming a set of carrier devices which when overlayed upon one another and aligned will reveal N images within a common area, the set of carrier devices being formed by: forming N latent images from respective ones of the N images and respective ones of N line decoders to hide the N images, each latent image being decodeable by the decoder from which the latent image is formed to reveal the image the latent image hides, the N latent images further formed such that the lines of the decoders cross one another within the common area at line angles displaced relative to one another so as to define a single axis of alignment; and forming each carrier device of the set of carrier devices by combining at least two items selected from the set of latent images and decoders so as not to decode any of the hidden images and such that the set of carrier devices includes all the latent images and all the decoders, whereby the set of carrier devices will reveal the N hidden images within the

  • Patent number: 7669151
Abstract: Computer-aided design tools analyze a custom logic design for a programmable logic device integrated circuit. The tools identify distinct clock domains in the design. The tools also identify which of the clock domains are synchronous. The tools examine the synchronous clock domains to determine which of the clock domains have required fixed phase relationships. Clocks for clock domains that do not have required fixed relationships can be adjusted in phase to minimize power supply simultaneous switching noise. Noise may be minimized by making clock phase adjustments using a programmable phase-locked loop circuit.

  • Patent number: 7606911
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for providing and displaying information collected from a variety of information providers such as an electronic mail server or an information content server. Each of the variety of information providers provides information updates which are captured and rendered in a variety of status images which are provided to a user via a Web page or similar facility. The display of information on the Web page is robust against displays from one or more of the information providers since each of the status images and the remainder of the Web page content are rendered independently.
