  • Publication number: 20150174962
Abstract: The invention relates to pneumatic tires having treads of a cap/base configuration where the outer tread cap rubber layer contains lugs with intervening grooves which extend to the running surface of the tread cap and wherein at least one of said grooves is contained in a rubber block within the tread. For this invention, the tread groove-containing rubber block is an extension of the tread base rubber layer which extends radially outward into the outer tread cap rubber layer.

  • Publication number: 20150174964
Abstract: The invention relates to pneumatic tires having treads of a cap/base configuration where the outer tread cap rubber layer contains lugs with intervening grooves which extend to the running surface of the tread cap and wherein at least one of said grooves is contained in a rubber block within the tread. For this invention, the tread groove-containing rubber block joins the tire carcass and extends radially outward through the tread base rubber layer and into the outer tread cap rubber layer.

  • Publication number: 20150174969
Abstract: This invention relates to a tire which contains a pathway for transferring heat within a tire comprised of a heat transfer rubber conduit composed of at least one operational, physically functional, heat conductive tire component. In one embodiment, for a cured rubber tire, the heat transfer rubber conduit is provided as a pathway for transfer of heat generated within the tire to an external surface of the tire for dissipation of the conducted heat. In another embodiment, for an uncured rubber tire, the heat transfer rubber conduit is provided as a pathway to transfer heat applied to an outer surface of the tire to the interior of the tire. The heat conductive tire component(s) of the heat transfer conduit is/are each comprised of a heat conductive rubber composition containing acetylene carbon black.
