  • Patent number: 6345051
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for communicating to a destination node over a broadband network from plural users connected to an access node. A virtual circuit is provisioned through the broadband network for connecting the access node to the destination node. Data units are received from plural users at the access node, with each data unit having plural cells. The data units are multiplexed onto the virtual circuit at the access node such that the cells of any one data unit are noninterleaving with the cells of any other data unit on the virtual circuit. In a preferred embodiment, the destination node is a service provider node in an ATM network and the data units are Ethernet protocol data units that comprise plural ATM cells.

  • Patent number: 6216678
Abstract: An engine cylinder firing event is intentionally defeated by clipping the flyback voltage of the ignition system primary coil winding under the control of a misfire generator that develops a misfire logic signal from ignition dwell events and user inputs and also develops a signal indicative of which cylinder firing event was defeated.

  • Patent number: 6098728
Abstract: A drillbit with a flexible nozzle system is provided to address bit- and bottom-balling situations. In one embodiment, a given nozzle can have an mounting member which is oblong or another shape so as to be installable into different positions where, in one position, the bit-balling problem is addressed, while in the other, the bottom-balling problem is addressed. Other shapes that provide this flexibility can also be employed. The nozzle body can also be made with a symmetrical mount, with the outlet askew such that the symmetrical mount, when placed in a strategically located nozzle opening, can address bit- or bottom-balling situations by a simple reversal of the orientation where multiple orientations are available for the base. Alternatively, in the area between adjacent cones, multiple nozzle installations can be provided to independently address the bit-balling and bottom-balling situations between adjacent cones.

  • Patent number: 5762177
Abstract: An improved conveyor is provided which has a plurality of rotatable shafts with a plurality of first disc rollers mounted on each of the shafts for rotation therewith. The first disc rollers are located at a first location on each of the shafts and are spaced from each other at at least a distance X on the shaft. The disc rollers on adjacent shafts are spaced from the disc rollers on each adjacent shaft and are adapted to support and transport a flat product having a width of at least about 2X. A plurality of second rollers are mounted on each of the shafts for rotation therewith at a second location on the shafts. Preferably, each of the second rollers has a length of at least about 2X and preferably a circumference substantially equal to that of the disc rollers. Thus, the second rollers are adapted to support a flat panel product having a width less than about 2X.

  • Patent number: 5265848
Abstract: A folding portable play enclosure for children includes a plurality of panels connected in a series in an accordion-fold manner by a plurality of folding joints. The panels are formed by cardboard sheets sandwiched between inner and outer flexible vinyl layers. The folding joints are formed by the provision of spaces between the ends of each adjacent pair of cardboard sheets in the series. First indicia on one face of each of the panels simulates an exterior appearance of a home and includes trees, exterior windows, exterior doors, and fences, for example. Second indicia on an opposite face of the panels simulates an interior appearance of a home and includes furniture, interior windows, interior doors, and bookshelves, for example. Cooperating snap fasteners allow the enclosure to be selectively secured in an erected orientation forming a closed play space or in a compact collapsed orientation for transportation and storage.

  • Patent number: 4104589
Abstract: A chuck for use in the testing of semiconductor wafers comprising first and second pluralities of electrically conductive members alternately arranged to provide a wafer receiving surface. The members are substantially completely electrically isolated from each other. Electric power leads and measurement sensing leads are provided to the first plurality of conductive members and the second plurality of conductive members respectively.
