  • Patent number: 8527795
Abstract: A method, system, and computer usable program product for improving processor performance during power supply failure are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A throttled condition of a processor is detected in a data processing system. A voltage of the electrical power being provided to the processor is reduced. The processor is un-throttled. Additionally, a frequency of electrical power being provided to the processor may also be reduced. A determination is made whether a condition that caused the throttling has been corrected. In response to the condition having been corrected, the frequency is returned to normal frequency and the voltage is returned to normal voltage. The reducing the frequency operation and reducing the voltage operation may each be performed by distinct components communicating over a data network external to the data processing system.

  • Publication number: 20130151402
Abstract: Systems and methods for electronic payment using a mobile device for billing to a subscriber account. A purchaser (also referred to herein as a “subscriber”) who has an account with a service provider for services unrelated to the purchase, engages a merchant in a transaction using a purchaser mobile device. The purchaser mobile device acquires purchase information to complete a purchase and unique purchaser identification information and communicates this information to a merchant mobile device. The merchant mobile device communicates the purchase information and the purchaser information along with unique merchant identification information to a service provider server. The service provider server interacts with the purchaser mobile device to authorize the purchase and bills a subscriber account associated with the purchaser mobile device upon a confirmation of the purchase.

  • Publication number: 20130148653
Abstract: Traffic is obtained from a plurality of internet protocol version six addresses within a plurality of internet protocol version six blocks; and a first indication of inappropriate traffic is obtained from a first one of the addresses. Responsive thereto, a reputation score for a first given one of the blocks, containing the first one of the internet protocol version six addresses, is incremented by a first predetermined amount; and a reputation score for an adjacent block is incremented by a second predetermined amount which is less than the first predetermined amount. Traffic from the plurality of internet protocol version six addresses within the plurality of internet protocol version six blocks is passed or blocked in accordance with a policy based on the incremented reputation scores for the first block and adjacent block. Techniques for internet protocol version four (individual and network address translation aspects) are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20120314705
Abstract: A gateway router apparatus sends a first multicast SOLICIT message with a prefix length hint based on a number of network segments associated with the apparatus. The apparatus receives a second multicast SOLICIT message with a prefix length hint, from a downstream router in a premises network. At the apparatus, the following are recorded: (i) an estimated prefix length associated with the second multicast SOLICIT message; and (ii) an interface associated with the second multicast SOLICIT message. At the apparatus, a first ADVERTISE message is received, and a REQUEST message is sent, both over the internet. The REQUEST message specifies a prefix length based on the number of network segments associated with the apparatus and the recorded estimated prefix length associated with the second multicast SOLICIT message. The apparatus sends a second ADVERTISE message advertising ability of the apparatus to delegate prefixes in accordance with the REQUEST message.

  • Publication number: 20120314617
Abstract: A delegated internet protocol version six prefix, which is assigned to a gateway device which is interposed between an internet and a premises, is divided into a lower-numbered portion and a higher-numbered portion. One of the portions is allocated to a plurality of networks associated with the premises. The other is broken into a plurality of blocks for use in prefix delegation for allocation to routers associated with the premises requesting the prefix delegation. The gateway device is operated in accordance with the dividing, allocating, and breaking steps. Optionally, at least some of the plurality of networks associated with the premises are pre-categorized into at least first and second trust zones, and the operating step further includes operating the gateway device in accordance with the pre-categorizing step. Apparatuses, devices, computer program products, and internet protocol version four embodiments are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8132513
Abstract: An amusement park ride with one or more evacuation zones. The ride includes a track with a rail defining a ride path. The ride path includes at least one evacuation zone along a first length of the track at a first height and a non-evacuation zone along a second length of the track with one or more portions at a second height greater than the first height. The track is sloped in the non-evacuation zone toward the evacuation zone. The ride includes a vehicle supported on the rail via roller elements such as load bearing wheels. The ride includes a drive assembly that provides a driving force to selectively move the vehicle along the ride path. The drive assembly is adapted to automatically disengage from the vehicle upon loss of power. The vehicle is free rolling upon loss of power to travel to the evacuation zone based on gravity.

  • Patent number: 6931728
Abstract: A method of fabricating a test model of a gas turbine engine combustor dome, and the test model produced thereby. The method entails individually stamping a plurality of dome wall segments and first and second mounting band segments. Each wall segment comprises at least one cup between radially inward and outward edges of the wall segment, and an opening in the cup. At least one wall segment and its two corresponding mounting band segments are placed on a fixture that locates the opening of the wall segment, locates the first and second mounting band segments at the radially-inward and outward edges of the wall segment, and orients the wall segment to establish a dome angle of the fixtured dome assembly. The wall segment and mounting band segments are then joined while the fixtured dome assembly remains on the fixture to form at least a unitary sector of the test model.

  • Patent number: 6227965
Abstract: This particular combination of steps in the overall process; the spot coating on a single side of a page, as well as on both sides of the page, in a specific pattern are new and unique. The ability to print multiple orientations on a single side of a page or in duplex fashion is not technology, but is an integral part of the overall process. The folding both horizontally and vertically for the 4-part form, or the “Z” fold for the 3-part form, is not new technology, but is an integral part of the overall process in creating this finished product. The combination of the specific patterns and locations of the spot coatings, the printing in certain areas of the page with certain orientations, and the specific manner in which each single page is folded to become a 3 or 4-part form is unique and patentable.

  • Patent number: 5796969
Abstract: A view system provides support for applying matrix operations to one or more views to render a view in a more realistic manner. The matrix operations are applied in accordance with a predefined coordinate system for each application to generate the screen information for each application program. The view system applies the matrix operations to generate views appearing on the display, off the display and partially on and partially off the display. Furthermore, the system enables hierarchical linkage of views to enhance the correspondence between a view undergoing a transformation and proximal views.
