A plurality of contacts (40, 42, 50, 52) are received within the corresponding passageways (20, 20') wherein the tail of each contact (40, 42, 50, 52) extends downward to engage the corresponding circuit on the PC board (100) on which the connector assembly (10) is mounted.

    Abstract: A card edge connector (10) includes an insulative housing (12) defining an elongated channel (14) for receiving a card therein. A pair of tower sections (22) are portioned on two opposite ends of the housing (12), and each defines a cavity for receiving therein an ejector (28) wherein each ejector (28) has a main body (36) with an elongated slots (42) extending along almost the whole lengthwise dimension of the main body (36) except the handle (40), and substantially therethrough in a lateral direction thereof so as to provide a good resiliency of the main body (36). A pair of retention protrusions (32) are respectively positioned on two sides of the main body (36) wherein the retention protrusion generally positioned about the middle point of the slot (42), is large enough to resist wear so that the ejector (28) can be easily rotatably moved with regard to the housing (12) while still keeping good retention function with the housing (12) when it is in a vertical position.

An ejector (20) is rotatably received within the cavity section (18) by means of a spindle (32), a center of which is relatively closer to an inner surface (42) of the ejector (20), wherein the inner surface (42) of the ejector (20) includes at least a first plane-like section (44) generally coplanar with the outer surface (45) of the end wall (40), a second arc-like section (46) generally conformable with the periphery of the spindle (32), and a third plane-like section (48) spaced from the outer surface (25) of the end wall (40) in a substantial distance, when such ejector (20) is in a vertical locked position with regard to the housing (12).

    Abstract: A card edge connector (10) includes an insulative elongated housing (12) having a central slot (14) for receiving the corresponding card (100) and having at least one ejector (20) at its longitudinal end. The ejector (20) comprises a kicker (32) at the bottom for engagement with the bottom edge of the card (100) received within the connector (10). The ejector (20) further includes a locking projection (30) horizontally and inwardly projecting toward the central slot (14) for engagement within a notch (104) of the inserted card (100). A pair of retention bars (22) or restraint devices for limiting lateral movement of the inserted card with regard to housing (12), vertically extend by two sides of the central slot (14) adjacent the ejector (20). The pair of retention bars (22) extend over the locking projection (30) of the ejector (20) in the vertical direction for substantially protectively covering the locking projection (30) in the vertical and/or horizontal direction.

A pair of retention bars (34) are positioned adjacent each end of the housing (12) and respectively on two sides of the slot (14). Each ejector (20) includes a main body (22) which is substantially higher than the adjacent retention bars (34). A pair of stopper blocks (32) are formed on two side surfaces (28) of the main body (22) for engagement with the corresponding retention bars (34), respectively, when the ejector (20) is in the vertical position.
