  • Publication number: 20160067722
Abstract: A controllable sprinkler includes a sprinkler head having a water discharge nozzle adapted to move between first and second sprinkler head positions via a sprinkler head positioner (such as a water motor), and a sprinkler head position determiner to determine a current sprinkler head position between the first and second positions. A flow control valve controls flow of water from a water supply to the discharge nozzle. A flow control valve positioner establishes a current control valve position of the flow control valve between essentially fully closed and essentially fully open positions. A water flow detector determines an approximation of water emanating from the control valve, and generates a water flow signal. A controller receives a sprinkler head position from the sprinkler head position determiner, and the water flow signal from the water flow detector, and in response sends a control valve control signal to the flow control valve positioner.

  • Publication number: 20160040907
Abstract: Systems, tools, and methods are presented that enable a circuit to introduce a random time delay before actuating a relay to start or stop a supply of electrical power to a heating element of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. In one instance, the circuit includes a time-delay switch electrically connected to the relay. The time-delay switch has a random time delay before entering a closed state or open state. The relay is operable to start and stop a supply of electrical power to the heating element in response to the switch entering, respectively, the closed state and the open state. Other systems, tools and methods are presented.

  • Patent number: 9179612
Abstract: A center pivot sprinkler system includes a sprinkler arm to be mounted at a pivot point at a first end of the sprinkler arm, the sprinkler arm defining a water conduit. A motive source can move the sprinkler arm in a circular motion about the pivot point. An end nozzle is supported at a second end of the sprinkler arm, and in fluid communication with the water conduit. A control valve is positioned between the water conduit and the end nozzle, and a control valve positioner can position the control valve. A position determining device determines the position of the end nozzle in a circular arc about the pivot point. A processor polls the position determining device to determine a then-current position of the end nozzle and determines a flow of water to be issued from the end nozzle as a function of the then-current position of the end nozzle.

  • Patent number: 9141226
Abstract: There is provided a method of controlling a computer system of an interactive display system, comprising: predetermining one or more positions on an interactive display of the interactive display system; displaying an image representing the predetermined one or more positions; receiving data identifying one or more detected positions selected on the interactive display; comparing the detected positions and the predetermined positions, wherein in dependence on a match the computer system registers the interactive display with the computer systems.

  • Patent number: 8971502
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and techniques for identifying VoIP phone connector locations whereby an emergency call request can be specifically located on a VoIP phone network. This system addresses prior-art shortcomings in which the location information is attempted to be tracked with identification information stored in VoIP phones, or in which databases of location information are created relative to MAC addresses of component pieces of the VoIP phone network (such as the VoIP phones themselves, data switches, or LAN routers) in that the VoIP phone connectors are fixedly mounted in buildings and their locations can be more reliably fixed and maintained. Further described are methods for establishing databases of location and/or caller information associated with these VoIP phone connectors.

  • Publication number: 20150024391
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a panel of nucleic acid molecule primers specific for HLA-specific alleles and other genetic polymorphisms, which are useful for quantitatively amplifying these markers to detect, diagnose, and monitor individuals who have or are at risk of certain disease conditions, such as autoimmune disease, proliferative disease, infectious disease, allograft rejection, or pregnancy-related pathologies.

  • Publication number: 20140084078
Abstract: A sprinkler which is controllable to provide water to an area to be sprinkled includes a sprinkler head to move between a first position and a second position. The sprinkler further includes a sprinkler head positioner to move the sprinkler head between the first and second positions, a sprinkler head position determiner to determine a current sprinkler head position between the first and second positions, a flow control valve to control flow of water from a water supply to the sprinkler head, a flow control valve positioner to establish a current control valve position for the flow control valve between an essentially fully closed control valve position and an essentially fully open control valve position, and a controller to receive a sprinkler head position signal from the sprinkler head position determiner and send a control valve control signal to the flow control valve positioner in response thereto.

  • Patent number: 8640760
Abstract: An ultrasonic welding machine and method are provided. The machine includes an ultrasonic welding horn operably coupled to a housing. The machine further includes an anvil operably coupled to the housing. The machine further includes a removable collar assembly that is coupled around a portion of an outer surface of the ultrasonic welding horn. The removable collar assembly has at least first and second set screws that contact the housing such that when at least one of the first and second set screws are moved inwardly toward the housing, the removable collar assembly rotates the ultrasonic welding horn to align the ultrasonic welding horn relative to the anvil.

  • Patent number: 8567122
Abstract: A plant container or planter fabricated from a breathable, flexible, geo-textile, material such as recycled polyester needle-punched felt, which is self-supporting without an internal support structure. The geo-textile material is porous to both air and water, which allows air-born nutrients to pass to the roots and inhibit the ability of mold species to grow and harm the plant. The geo-textile material is configurable to various container designs that permit the non-conventional plant placement including the mounting of the plant containers on vertical surfaces, flat surfaces, and by suspension from ceilings and walls. The inclusion of a flexible, durable, impermeable, water-retaining recycled rubber, vinyl, or plastic bottom and/or backing liner in the construction of the plant containers/hangers allow the planters to be placed on indoor and outdoor surfaces such as wood, stucco, wallboard, carpet, and various other surfaces which might otherwise be damaged by moisture.

  • Patent number: 8529013
Abstract: A method compensates for changes in drop mass of drops ejected by ink jets in a printhead of an ink jet imaging device. The method includes identifying an average of differences between drop placement position for ink drops on an image receiving member and default ink drop positions. The average of the differences is used to adjust a parameter of one or more ink jet driving signals in response to the average of the differences being greater than a predetermined threshold.
