  • Patent number: 9833616
Abstract: An implantable medical device (IMD) can include implantable pulse generator (IPG) devices, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD), cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator devices, neurostimulators or combinations thereof. In one example, the IMD can include a body assembly, which can provide at least one electrical signal corresponding to a therapy. The IMD can also include a cardiac lead assembly, which can have a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal portion of the cardiac lead assembly can be in communication with the body assembly to receive the therapy and the distal portion can be adapted to be coupled to an anatomical structure to transmit the at least one electrical signal to the anatomical structure. The proximal portion of the cardiac lead assembly can have a first stiffness and the distal portion can have a second stiffness. The first stiffness can be greater than the second stiffness.

  • Publication number: 20160367250
Abstract: A surgical device comprising a first jaw member, a second jaw member, a clamping member and a clamp apparatus is disclosed. The clamping member is slidably positioned to translate at least partially through the first jaw member. The clamping member engages the first jaw member and the second jaw member, and has a knife blade for cutting tissue. A flange of the clamping member is configured to engage a cam surface to pivot the second jaw member with respect to the first jaw member from an open position toward an approximated position. The clamp apparatus is movable from a retracted position to an advanced position for preventing a gap between proximal portions of the first jaw member and the second jaw member from exceeding a predetermined distance. The clamping member and the clamp apparatus are separately movable.

  • Publication number: 20160253451
Abstract: A method for producing a template of a binding site of a target protein is provided. A target protein is modeled in silico. A binding site is hydrated with water molecules by finding areas within the binding site where water molecules remain localized during a molecular dynamic simulation. Interactions of the water molecules with the hydration sites are classified as a hydrogen bond acceptor interaction (A) or a hydrogen bond donor interaction (D). The classified interactions are mapped to provide a template of hydrogen bond interactions with the protein.

  • Publication number: 20160206315
Abstract: A surgical buttress includes a body portion and a band disposed on each of the distal and proximal ends thereof. The surgical buttress is configured to attach to an end effector of a surgical stapling apparatus. The body portion, having perforations disposed thereon, overlies the working surface of one of the first or second jaws of the end effector. A resilient portion extends transversely beyond the side edges of the first or second jaws. Each band remains attached to the end effector following the firing thereof. The proximal band is removably attachable to a hook feature disposed on one of the first or second jaws of the end effector. The surgical buttress can be made from suitable degradable or non-degradable materials. One embodiment contemplates a detachable and disposable single use loading unit. A method of attaching the surgical buttress to a surgical apparatus is also envisioned.

  • Patent number: 9346476
Abstract: A track-data verification vehicle and method for verifying positive train control (PTC) track data. The vehicle includes a 360° camera and a precision positioning system co-located on a vertical axis on the vehicle. The 360° camera provides a video image with indicators that are useable to align an asset with the positioning system. A second video camera is positioned interior to the vehicle to capture an image of a monitor associated with a train management control (TMC) unit and of operator inputs to the TMC unit; the TMC unit executes a PTC track-data verification application. The process of verifying asset locations is thus recorded and can be reviewed and approved by a Federal Railroad Administration representative without requiring the representative to be physically present within the vehicle during track-data verification.
