  • Publication number: 20220143527
Abstract: Methods and systems for forming crystallized products from solutions. Such a method includes depositing an input material in a solvent mixture comprising a solvent and an anti-solvent, increasing the temperature of the solvent mixture with the input material therein to an elevated temperature for a period of time sufficient to fully dissolve the input material in the solvent mixture to form a solution of the material, and performing a series of temperature cycles on the solution to produce a crystallized product from the material in the solution. The solution is alternated between heating cycles and cooling cycles based on the turbidity of the solution, and the solution is filtered to remove and collect the crystallized product therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20180051342
Abstract: The disclosure includes the identification and use of gene expression profiles, or patterns, with clinical relevance to prostate cancer. In particular, the disclosure is based on the identities of genes that are correlated with patient survival and prostate cancer recurrence. The gene expression profiles may be embodied in nucleic acid expression, protein expression, or other expression formats and used to predict the survival of subjects afflicted with prostate cancer and to predict prostate cancer recurrence. The profiles may also be used in the study and/or diagnosis of prostate cancer cells and tissue as well as for the study and/or determination of prognosis of a patient. When used for diagnosis or prognosis, the profiles may be used to determine the treatment of prostate cancer based upon probable life expectancy and cancer recurrence and/or metastasis.

  • Patent number: 8386691
Abstract: A multimedia storage card system includes a memory card; a dynamic switch coupled electrically and communicatively to the memory card; a first accessor coupled electrically and communicatively to the dynamic switch for accessing to the memory card, thereby storing data into and retrieving data from the memory card; and a second accessor coupled electrically and communicatively to the dynamic switch. Upon receipt of a first access signal transmitted from the second accessor, the dynamic switch determines whether the first accessor is in an idle condition. Upon detecting the first accessor is in the idle condition, the dynamic switch is switched to and in communication link with the second accessor, thereby transmitting the first access signal to the memory card and enabling the second accessor to access the memory card in order to store data into and retrieving data from the memory card.

  • Publication number: 20090176218
Abstract: Disclosed are methods for prognostic evaluation, and diagnosis of cancers. The methods of the present invention allow for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancers by analyzing the levels of expression of an enzyme that is involved in the biosynthetic pathway of spermine within tissue samples containing cancerous tissues. In particular, the amount of enzyme mRNA detected in tissue sample correlates with disease status such that enzyme levels can be used to predict the presence of, as well as the metastatic potential of cancer. Thus, measuring the level of spermine pathway enzymes in biological samples provides a quick, easy, and safe screen that can be used to both diagnose and prognose cancer in a patient thus leading to more effective treatments and cures.

  • Publication number: 20090030618
Abstract: A system, method and software arrangement according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention are provided which can use molecular profiles obtained from unaltered human tissue specimens for clinical purposes including disease diagnoses and treatment evaluations. For example, spatial distributions of chemical species including metabolites within the tissue may be obtained using radiological techniques such as magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging. Disease-specific profiles may be obtained by comparing the distributions of chemical species obtained in ex vivo tissues with pathological observations made on them using statistical analysis. The disease-specific profiles may then be correlated with in vivo or ex vivo molecular profiles to obtain spatial maps that can provide a more sensitive and accurate detection of diseased tissue.

  • Publication number: 20080119080
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a lens module, an insulating casing and a plurality of terminals. An outer edge of the lens module is wrapped by coils. The insulating casing has an accommodating space for accommodating the lens module. The bottom of the insulating casing is formed with a plurality of terminal troughs. The plurality of terminals is accommodated in the terminal troughs respectively. Each terminal has two ends. One end extends into the accommodating space to be electrically connected with the lens module, while the other end extends beyond the insulating casing. An engaging means is provided between the inner edge of the insulating casing and the outer edge of the lens module. Via the engaging means, the lens module can be engaged in the accommodating space of the insulating casing firmly.

  • Publication number: 20060165465
Abstract: A two module keyboard with splash-resistant mechanism has a key module that can be separated by a user from a base module. One group of components becomes a detachable and user-serviceable key module, while the other group stays as the base module. The detachable module contains essentially the keycap portion that causes substantially more malfunctioning of present day keyboard components than the rest. The base module has a bay that receives the detachable key module, and contains the electrical circuitry membrane and PCB that has longer durability than the key portion. Drain holes at lower end of the bay will allow liquid spillage, or water/solution if used to clean the bay, to flow out of the keyboard. Depending on applications, the detachable key module can be further broken into more sub-modules.
