    Abstract: A plasmonic hierarchical structure according to an embodiment includes a nanogap formed between metal nanoparticles. The nanogap has a width of 1 nm to 100 nm. The metal nanoparticles comprise at least one selected from the group consisting of gold (Au), silver (Ag), copper (Cu), platinum (Pt), and palladium (Pd). The plasmonic hierarchical structure further includes silica (SiO2) nanoparticles or CdSe quantum dots. A method for producing a plasmonic hierarchical structure according to an embodiment includes: injecting a metal nanoparticle solution into a micropipette; releasing the metal nanoparticle solution by bringing the micropipette into contact with a substrate; and forming a meniscus of the released metal nanoparticle solution, thereby producing a plasmonic hierarchical structure.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a hydrogel platform using, as a substrate, hyaluronic acid (HA) conjugated to a pyrogallol (PG) moiety. The HA-PG conjugate of the present invention can be rapidly crosslinked by two different methods, in each of which an oxidizing agent is used or a pH is adjusted. The hydrogel of the present invention can not only have excellent biocompatibility, but also can have efficiently controlled physical characteristics such as a crosslinking rate, elasticity, and adhesive strength, depending on each crosslinking method. On the basis of such excellent stability and functionality, the hydrogel of the present invention can be used in various fields including drug delivery, biopharmaceutical materials such as a wound healing agent or anti-adhesive agent, medicines, and cosmetic products.

    Abstract: Technologies are described for routing structured query language (SQL) statements to elastic compute nodes (ECNs) using workload classes within a distributed database environment. The elastic compute nodes do not store persistent database tables. For example, a SQL statement can be received for execution within the distributed database environment. A workload class can be identified that matches properties of the SQL statement. Based on the workload class, a routing location hint can be obtained that identifies a set of elastic compute nodes. The SQL statement can then be routed to one of the identified elastic compute nodes for execution. Execution of the SQL statement at the elastic compute node can involve retrieving database data from other nodes which store persistent database tables.
