    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection circuit integrated with a gallium nitride (GaN) based transistor and configured to clamp a gate input voltage of the gallium nitride (GaN) based transistor during an ESD surge event, and associated methods. In some embodiments, the ESD protection circuit includes a first ESD protection stage and a second ESD protection stage connected between a gate terminal and a source terminal of the GaN based transistor. The first ESD protection stage includes a first plurality of GaN based gate-to-source shorted transistors connected in series and further connected to a first terminal of a first resistor. The second ESD protection stage is connected to the first ESD protection stage in parallel. The second ESD protection stage comprises a first GaN based shunt transistor having a gate terminal connected to the first terminal of the first resistor.

    Abstract: The present invention provides integrated nanostructures comprising a single-crystalline matrix of a material A containing aligned, single-crystalline nanowires of a material B, with well-defined crystallographic interfaces are disclosed. The nanocomposite is fabricated by utilizing metal nanodroplets in two subsequent catalytic steps: solid-liquid-vapor etching, followed by vapor-liquid-solid growth. The first etching step produces pores, or “negative nanowires” within a single-crystalline matrix, which share a unique crystallographic direction, and are therefore aligned with respect to one another. Further, since they are contained within a single, crystalline, matrix, their size and spacing can be controlled by their interacting strain fields, and the array is easily manipulated as a single entity—addressing a great challenge to the integration of freestanding nanowires into functional materials.

The iterative process performs the substeps, until convergence, of estimating a long term value for operation at a respective state of the environment over a series of predicted future environmental states; using a complex return of the data set to determine a bound to improve the estimated long term value; and producing an updated estimate of an optimal control policy dependent on the improved estimate of the long term value. The control system may produce an output signal to control the system directly, or output the optimized control policy. The system preferably is a reinforcement learning system which continually improves.

    Abstract: A bonding operation to increase the bond between a coating layer and substrate is described. The coating layer may be designed to resist residue on a substrate that covers a display of an electronic device. An adhesion layer including silica (SiO2) and a catalyst or dopant, such as zirconium, may be used to bond the coating layer with the substrate. The dopant can alter the chemical nature of the adhesion layer and increase the number of chemical bonding sites at a bonding surface of the adhesion layer, thereby creating an activated bonding surface. One activated surface of the adhesion layer can be bonded with the substrate, while another activated surface of the adhesion layer can be bonded with the coating layer.
