  • Publication number: 20050168090
Abstract: This invention is a new dynamo electric machine of the alternating current type which provides for the entire stator winding to operate as an alternating current induction machine for relatively shorter periods of very high torque output operation, then provides for a portion of the stator winding to operate as a direct current exciter field winding while the balance of the stator operates as the armature windings of a high efficiency salient pole alternating current synchronous machine. The said machine or any electrical machine is further made more compact for a specific rate of output by providing stator winding insulation of an insulating material which provides for very high temperature operation and/or relatively high volume circulation of coolant throughout the porous winding insulation and potentially operates successfully at much higher temperatures than typical insulation systems. Also provided is a novel means of rotatably supporting a rotor of a dynamo electrical machine.

  • Publication number: 20050121214
Abstract: An electrical transmission line is provided which employs the conductive and structural material usually formed into current carrying cables to form the tubes of a pressurized pipeline which is then suspended from insulators on tall poles to create a low impedance electrical conductor and a high volume gas pipeline. The poles of wind generator towers may be employed to support the conductors and to store the gas from the pipeline. Auxiliary electrical generation may be added at the towers to assist in voltage or VAR support at times of peak load. Electrolysers may also be employed to increase electrical power consumption during offpeak times and supply the fuel gas or compressed air generated into the pipeline for sale or into storage for later re-conversion back into electricity at times of peak demand. A novel line layout plan is provided which reduces the cost of the transmission line.

  • Publication number: 20050050892
Abstract: This invention is an improved method of installing the main subsystems of any Rankine Cycle thermal electric power generating station to reduce the capital cost of constructing the plant, to increase the overall safety of a nuclear reactor installation, and to improve the efficiency and safety of such a power plant. This invention achieves a reduction of the amount of complex and redundant machinery required for operation, and an increase of the withstand pressure of the containment of a nuclear reactor; by installing the primary thermal power source and vapour generators at a significant elevation below the condenser.
