  • Publication number: 20160000203
Abstract: A shaving razor storage device that holds a shaving razor and allows the shaving razor head to be placed within a volume of liquid so that the shaving razor head is preserved, conditioned, and sanitized, while allowing debris to be removed from the shaving razor head.

  • Patent number: 9227428
Abstract: Image processing is used to simulate the appearance of an embossed print. The application of clear dry ink or spot varnish to the print generates the tactile feel of an embossed print. Embodiments thus provide a technique that simulates the effect of an embossed print without the need for plates or specialized equipment, other than a printer that is adapted to apply clear dry ink or spot varnish.

  • Publication number: 20150360491
Abstract: Compensation algorithms are applied to hide failed nozzles or, at least, reduce the objectionable effect of such nozzles in a printed image. Once a failed nozzle or under-performing nozzle is detected in a single-pass printing system, it is shut-off and the image data that was intended to be printed by this nozzle is redistributed to its neighboring nozzles. Embodiments of the invention use of a 1-D look-up table and stochastically distribute the duty cycle to each neighboring nozzle. In this way, failed nozzles are effectively hidden in the final print.

  • Patent number: 9049403
Abstract: An embodiment implements a methodology for printing non-saturated text and lines in a way that removes the jagged edge problem. An embodiment uses a combination of two screens, e.g. AM screening and applying pure color. For example, according to the embodiment, the closer to the edge from the interior of text or lines, the less amplitude modulation half toning is applied and the more actual color or contone is applied. A particular algorithm for determining and using a blending parameter is provided.

  • Patent number: 8922818
Abstract: Techniques are provided that allow the user to view on his or her mobile device the body of an email or other items from a message service as well as each of the attachments as thumbnails or individual images. As well, techniques allow the user to view particular attributes of each item, e.g. the number of pages and the page size of a particular attachment. Techniques are provided such that the user may view such thumbnails and/or attributes on a unique URL generated as a result of the generated email. Thus, by such techniques, the user is provided with a platform for mobile devices that allows intuitive selection of what should be or is desired to be printed.

  • Publication number: 20140086610
Abstract: Various variable gloss reduction techniques are disclosed. In one embodiment, a gloss reduction technique is disclosed using a textured roller and a wiper impregnated with fuser oil to create a differential gloss pattern that reduces the gloss of an image printed on a substrate. In one embodiment, a gloss reduction technique is disclosed using a combination of heat and pressure to create a differential gloss pattern that reduces the gloss in specific regions of an image printed on a substrate. In one embodiment, a gloss reduction technique is disclosed using a differential gloss pattern to generate a security mark on a printed image to prevent against copying or fraudulent misrepresentation of the image.

  • Publication number: 20140087079
Abstract: The smoothness of a toner layer is reduced and thus the gloss of a resulting print is reduced. A single toner, the original high gloss version, is enabled to print all images. A finishing option is provided which, through application of a combination of heat and pressure with a textured roller, reduces the specular gloss of the toner surface by imprinting a high frequency texture onto the smooth toner layer. By adjusting the temperature/pressure of the textured roller, the effective gloss of the press can be adjusted through software as desired.

  • Patent number: 8553286
Abstract: Techniques are provided that use one or more templates to improve the printing of non-saturated colored text and lines. Such templates are predetermined, fixed patterns which can be indexed or looked up via a code word with a fewer number of bits than in the corresponding template. Thus, such templates are used to increase the resolution or effective resolution of a display. In an embodiment, each template location represents a 4×4 region of binary pixels. The number of possibilities of template values is 2^(4*4) or 65,536. However, in accordance with an embodiment, only 256 of these 65,536 templates are available and are indexed by an 8 bit contone video value.

  • Publication number: 20130250104
Abstract: A method for augmenting Landsat-based image data providing a satellite at an orbital altitude lower than an orbital altitude of a Landsat imaging satellite; providing a set of multispectral imaging devices arranged on the satellite configured to image a terrestrial swath larger than a standard Landsat image swath, configured to always image when orbiting over cloud-free terrestrial surfaces and descending node defined along a northeast to southwest trajectory so as to correspond to Landsat archive data; synchronizing image data from at least four visible bands and a near-infrared band with a first resolution with image data from a shortwave infrared band with a second resolution; retracing the imaged terrestrial swath for one or more iterations; downlinking image data to a ground station being formatted in accordance with a data format; compositing the synchronized image data to create a cloud-free image and periodically cross-calibrating it with Landsat-based image data.

  • Publication number: 20130241930
Abstract: Limitations of conventional dimensional printing techniques are addressed to provide features and flexibility not presently available, including extracting images selectively from a Postscript® or PDF file and thus enable texturing of individual images within a page; constructing the texture automatically directly from the image using image processing techniques; visualizing the texture to be applied to an image via construction of a bump map or normal map in openGL and DirectX®; adjusting texturing parameters via visual feedback in openGL and DirectX®; and inserting a clear texture back into a PDF file for printing automatically.

  • Publication number: 20120113459
Abstract: A proxy software service determines all I/O devices, such as printers, independent of subnet location, on a network by alternative means; provides a network interface on a wireless subnet that can receive and respond to requests; responds to such requests for each I/O device so identified so that the I/O device is available to the wireless device user for device selection; transfers and translates, if necessary, the IPP stream received from the wireless device to the network address of the I/O device so that the I/O device simulates a compliant I/O device; and transfers and translates, if necessary, all necessary status and command messages from the present protocol to the protocol supported by a legacy I/O device. The proxy software service provides network interfaces that exist both on the wireless subnet, as well as the wired subnet on which the I/O devices are connected.
