  • Publication number: 20210264794
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed to increase the safety of vehicles travelling in a vehicle platoon. These techniques include the utilization of a comprehensive safety framework such as a safety driving model (SDM) for the platoon control systems. In contrast to the conventional approaches, the use of the SDM model allows for platoon vehicle control systems to consider the acceleration/deceleration capabilities of the vehicles to calculate minimum safe longitudinal distances between the platoon vehicles. The disclosed techniques may utilize the periodicity of platoon messages as well as other parameters to improve upon platoon vehicle control and safety.

  • Patent number: 11064057
Abstract: An architecture to allow the translation or conversion of short-range direct communications between devices with different radio access, such as in a V2X (vehicle-to-everything) communication context, is disclosed. In an example, a translation process, such as is performed by a mobile/multi-access edge computing (MEC) communication entity, includes: obtaining or accessing, at a translation function, a communication message (e.g., IP message) provided from a first device operating with a first radio access technology (e.g., LTE C-V2X), the message addressed to a second device operating with a second radio access technology (e.g., IEEE 802.11p or DSRC/ITS-G5); converting the communication message, with the translation function, into a format compatible with the second radio access technology; and initiating a transmission of the translated communication message, from the translation function, to the second device using the second radio access technology.

  • Publication number: 20210112441
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for sharing information among multiple Mobility as a Service (MaaS) systems for presenting service information to users. One system includes means for receiving, by a multi-access edge computing (MEC) application, parameters of a global quality of service (QoS) prediction model, and means for sending, to a local prediction function (PF), an update of a local QoS prediction model. Further, the system includes means for detecting a journey of a vehicle requested by a user, and means for sending to the local PF, a request for a value of the QoS along the journey. The value of the QoS is a measure of quality of transportation services delivered during the journey. The system further includes means for receiving the predicted value of the QoS along the journey, and means for providing, by the MEC application, the predicted value of the QoS to the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20210110713
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments that provide a transportation environment data service. The transportation environmental data service includes harvesting services that crawl roadside infrastructure solutions to obtain sensor data collected from sensors physically positioned at the roadside infrastructure. In some cases, the roadside infrastructure solutions perform additional processing on the sensor data. For example, some roadside infrastructure performs object detection and/or object recognition. When encountering these solutions, the edge or harvesting service also collects the object detection and/or object recognition information. Customers can subscribe to various data services provided by the transportation environment data service. For example, some subscribers indicate an interest in any updates of environmental data for a particular region. Other subscribers are interested in video data associated with any vehicular accidents detected by the transportation environment data service.

  • Patent number: 10925054
Abstract: Embodiments of a Machine Type Communication User Equipment (MTC UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The MTC UE may determine a system timing based on reception of a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS). The MTC UE may receive, from the gNB, radio resource control (RRC) signaling that indicates one or more parameters of a configurable resynchronization signal (RSS). The RSS may be for resynchronization, by the MTC UE, after the MTC UE awakens from a power save mode. The parameters of the RSS in the RRC signaling may depend on a target coverage of the MTC UE. The MTC UE may determine an updated system timing based on reception of the RSS.

  • Publication number: 20210014656
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include technologies for managing co-existence among multiple Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Radio Access Technologies (RATs) through the setting of a Network Allocation Vector (NAV). MAC layer frame headers contain a duration field that specifies a transmission interval during which a shared channel will be occupied by a particular V2X RAT. The NAV indicates the time period intended to be held for the particular V2X RAT, and acts as an indication for how long stations implementing different V2X RATs must abstain from accessing the shared medium. Stations listen on the shared medium to obtain the MAC layer frame, read the duration field, and set their NAV indicators accordingly. Other embodiments are described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20210006282
Abstract: Methods and architectures are described to allow concurrent operation of two separate, non-synchronized, radio systems utilizing closely spaced frequency bands, such as IEEE 802.11p and LTE-V2X, or NR-V2X vehicular communications systems, with a common antenna. A full duplex-“like” active interference cancellation process may be employed that includes self-interference cancellation in the RF domain, in the analog domain and the digital baseband domain to reduce complexities and costs of stringent antenna isolation, otherwise required, for a simultaneous TX and RX mode of operation and concurrent RX mode of operation in closely spaced frequency resources.

  • Publication number: 20200404624
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) configured for New Radio (NR) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) (NR V2X) sidelink transmission in a fifth generation (5G) network may determine a transport block size (TBS) for transmission of a transport block (TB) within a current sidelink slot. The UE is configured to encode a physical sidelink shared channel (PSCCH) for transmission within the current sidelink slot. The PSCCH may be encoded to include sidelink control information (SCI). The SCI may indicate a reservation of physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) resources within up to three sidelink slots including the current sidelink slot 102. To determine the TBS, the UE may determine number of resource elements (REs) within the current sidelink slot 102 that are available for transmission of the PSSCH by excluding certain REs of the current sidelink slot.

  • Publication number: 20200374860
Abstract: An apparatus for use in a UE includes processing circuitry coupled to a memory. To configure the UE for 5G-NR sidelink communications, the processing circuitry is to decode sidelink control information (SCI) received from a second UE via a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH). The SCI indicates sidelink resources for transmission of a transport block during multiple transmission time intervals. A frequency resource assignment and a time resource assignment for the multiple transmission time intervals are determined based on the sidelink resources. A physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) is decoded, the PSSCH including the transport block, and received in one of the multiple transmission time intervals using the frequency resource assignment and the time resource assignment.

  • Publication number: 20190098088
Abstract: Various techniques for collective perception messaging are disclosed herein. In an example, a machine receives, from a source device, a signal value for provision to a sink device, the signal value corresponding to a measurement of an environmental value. The machine accesses, from a storage device, an error term for the signal value. The machine accesses, from the storage device, a source reliability term for the source device. The machine accesses, from the storage device, a source-sink relation term based on the source device and the sink device. The machine determines a distribution for the environmental value based on the error term, the source reliability term, and the source-sink relation term. The machine determines, based on the distribution for the environmental value, whether the signal value is reliable.
