    Abstract: A heat-radiating base plate includes an aluminum-made upper base plate, a copper-made lower base plate, and a heat pipe unit. The upper base plate has a first face, an opposite second face, and a slotted pattern extended through the upper base plate in a thickness direction to communicate the first face with the second face. The heat pipe unit is set in the slotted pattern, and has a thickness equal to a depth of the slotted pattern. The heat pipe unit has a first and a second heat-conducting flat face flush with the first and the second face of the upper base plate, respectively. The second face and the second heat-conducting face are attached to the lower base plate, which has another flat face in contact with a heat-producing unit. A radiating fin assembly can be mounted to a top of the heat-radiating base plate to provide a heat sink.

    Abstract: In light emitting diode (LED) control, a plurality of duty cycle signals corresponding to a plurality of LEDs are stored in a dual-port memory by memory mapping. By sampling, the stored duty cycle signals are outputted to generate a plurality of parallel single-bit data each having one single bit. After the single-bit data are converted by a data transmission module, each bit of the single-bit data is serially outputted to a drive module to drive the LEDs. Thus, the ON duty cycles of the LEDs are modulated by pulse width modulation (PWM), light emitted from the LEDs are mixed in time-domain, and the brightness of the LEDs can be controlled.

    Abstract: Cholesterol inhibitor produced by Monascus, monacolin k, is a secondary metabolite of polyketides. The invention provides probes specific to monacolin k biosynthesis gene cluster. BAC clones having putative monacolin k gene cluster were screened from BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) library, and sequencing and annotation were performed on these clones. The results show that 2 polyketide synthase (PKS) genes and 7 regulatory genes related to monacolin k synthesis were obtained. Full-length cDNAs of these genes were then obtained by RT-PCR and cloned to expression vectors for the expression of these genes.

In one such method, a load instruction having an expected latency greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold is identified. A request is then made to schedule the identified load instruction to have a predetermined latency. The software program is then scheduled. An actual latency associated with the load instruction in the scheduled software program is then compared to the predetermined latency. If the actual latency is greater than or equal to the predetermined latency, the load instruction is marked to bypass the first cache.
