    Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for calibration of a 3D vision system using a multi-layer 3D calibration target that removes the requirement of accurate pre-calibration of the target. The system and method acquires images of the multi-layer 3D calibration target at different spatial locations and at different times, and computes the orientation difference of the 3D calibration target between the two acquisitions. The technique can be used to perform vision-based single-plane orientation repeatability inspection and monitoring. By applying this technique to an assembly working plane, vision-based assembly working plane orientation repeatability, inspection and monitoring can occur. Combined with a moving robot end effector, this technique provides vision-based robot end-effector orientation repeatability inspection and monitoring. Vision-guided adjustment of two planes to achieve parallelism can be achieved.

The composite comprises at least one carbon nanotube and a plurality of transition metal oxide nanoparticles. The plurality of transition metal oxide nanoparticles are chemically bonded to the at least one carbon nanotube through carbon-oxygen-metal (C—O-M) linkages, wherein the metal is a transition metal element. The method for making the composite comprising the following steps: step 1, providing at least one carbon nanotube obtained from a super-aligned carbon nanotube array; step 2, pre-oxidizing the at least one carbon nanotube; step 3, dispersing the at least one carbon nanotube in a solvent to form a first suspension; step 4, dispersing a material containing transition metal oxyacid radicals in the first suspension to form a second suspension; and step 5, removing the solvent from the second suspension and drying the second suspension.

    Abstract: A failure positioning method for positioning leakage defect cell between the gate and the active region of transistor cells arranged in an array. The positioning method includes the steps of: measuring the resistance between a first metal wire connecting the active regions and a second metal wire connecting the gates, and positioning a first region where the defect cell is located by resistance ratio; electrically isolating the active region contact holes and the gate contact holes from each other; shorting the gate contact holes in the first region; and performing active voltage contrast analysis on the plurality of columns of transistor cells in the first region to position the leakage defect in the first region by comparing the voltage contrast images. With the positioning method, the transistor cell having a leakage defect at nA level may be accurately found from a plurality of transistor cells arranged in an array.

    Abstract: A method of laser spot welding a workpiece stack-up that includes at least two overlapping steel workpieces, at least one of which includes a surface coating, is disclosed. The method includes directing a laser beam at the top surface of the workpiece stack-up to create a molten steel weld pool that penetrates into the stack-up. The molten steel weld pool is then grown to penetrate further into the stack-up by increasing an irradiance of the laser beam while reducing the projected sectional area of the laser beam at a plane of the top surface of the workpiece stack-up. Increasing the irradiance of the laser beam may be accomplished by moving a focal point of the laser beam closer to the top surface or by reducing an angle of incidence of the laser beam so as to reduce the eccentricity of the projected sectional area of the laser beam.
