    Abstract: A driving circuit comprises a switch mode power converter circuit to convert a supply voltage (e.g. rectified mains), including an energy storage component and a main control switch. The energy storage component discharges to provide a regulated DC current to an output load upon the switching of the main control switch. A time-varying offset is used to modulate the regulated current hereby controlling the voltage across the energy storage component. In this way, the voltage across the energy storage component is maintained above the supply voltage with a safety margin, and this is used to prevent input current spikes and hence prevent an efficiency reduction of the driver circuit.

    Abstract: A non-isolated LED driver has a converter which delivers first and second outputs. A sense circuit is coupled to both the first output and the second output, between the converter and an LED unit. The currents at the first output and the second output are compared to obtain a difference therebetween, and a leakage fault is determined based on an alternating current component of the difference. This avoids the need for an isolated driver, by instead detecting a leakage fault and then taking appropriate safety actions.

    Abstract: A device suspension method and a computing device are provided. In the method, before a device enters a suspended state, memory space occupied by a background process that is unrelated to a foreground process is released. In this way, the background process unrelated to the foreground process is not saved in a memory of the device. In other words, it reduces data stored in the memory when the device is suspended. Therefore, when the device needs to be woken up, only a relatively small amount of data needs to be read from the memory, and a working state can be rapidly restored. This can reduce a delay of reading data from the memory when the device is woken up, thereby accelerating a wakeup speed of the device. In addition, the data is stored in the memory when the device is suspended.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for high-efficiency thermal storage with a fluid-filled “battery” tank positioned within a fluid-filled “reservoir” tank. Fluid loops couple the tanks to a heat pump and a building. The heat pump can charge the battery tank or deliver thermal energy (cold or heat) to a building, using the reservoir tank or ambient air as a thermal energy source. The battery tank can discharge energy to the building jointly with the heat pump or, at periods of peak electricity usage, with the heat pump switched off. Operating modes allow significant savings in electricity usage and mitigate the “duck curve.” Low duty cycle usage of the reservoir enables efficient underground thermal storage with less digging than conventional geothermal technologies. Additional efficiency is achieved with phase change materials installed inside a tank or in a tank wall, providing temperature regulation. Control methods are disclosed.

    Abstract: A LED lighting circuit has a plurality of LED segments connected in series. A switching arrangement is used to selectively bypass at least one LED segment to implement a tapped linear driver approach. Degrading of a component in the LED lighting circuit is detected, so that a first TLD current modulation scheme is implemented when no such degrading is detected whereas a second current modulation scheme, different from the first current modulation scheme, is implemented to compensate for said degrading. Said degrading is leading to an increase in a turning on voltage of one LED segment, and compared to said first current modulation scheme, said second current modulation scheme has a higher voltage threshold at which said LED segment is switched. In this way, protection may be provided for circuit components and the light output may be maintained at the desired level in the event of component degrading, such as LED chip failure or contact resistance changes.
