    Abstract: The present invention provides new impact protection materials and the method of making the same. More specifically, the impact protection materials are polymer-based shear-thickening composite comprising a non-shear-thickening polymer matrix material and one or more shear-thickening materials. Preferably, the non-shear-thickening polymer matrix material is in an amount from approximately 5 weight percent to approximately 90 weight percent with the balance being one or more shear-thickening materials. The first type of the one or more shear-thickening materials is sol-gel based shear-thickening material in which small inorganic particles are connected in a gel network; the second type is polymer-based shear-thickening material in which polymer chains form network. Compared to the existing shear-thickening materials, the present shear-thickening materials have different molecular structure and formulation and possess properties of good impact protection and good stability.

The method includes receiving a request for positioning service from a computing device at a location; estimating a Total Electron Content (vTEC) value associated with the location of the object based at least in part on a plurality of vTEC values of a plurality of ground stations equipped with a plurality of GPS receivers, the vTEC value being estimated based on an estimator that is trained using a filter-reweight-retrain robust algorithm; and sending information of the estimated vTEC value to the computing device to allow the computing device to correct an error of a GPS signal received by the computing device, the error of the GPS signal being associated with an ionospheric delay.

    Abstract: An online system matches a user across multiple online systems based on image data for the user (e.g., profile photo) regardless whether the image data is from the online system, a different but related online system or a third party system. For example, to match the user across a social networking system and INSTAGRAM™ system, the online system compares the similarity between images of the user from both systems in addition to similarity of textual information in the user profiles on both systems. The similarity of image data and the similarity of textual information associated with the user are used by the online system as indicators of matched user accounts belonging to the same user across both systems. The online system applies models trained using deep learning techniques to match a user across multiple online systems based on the image data and textual information associated with the user.

    Abstract: A “Facet Recommender” creates conversational recommendations for facets of particular conversational topics, and optionally for things associated with those facets, from consumer reviews or other social media content. The Facet Recommender applies a machine-learned facet model and optional sentiment-model, to identify facets associated with spans or segments of the content and to determine neutral, positive, or negative consumer sentiment associated with those facets and, optionally, things associated with those facets. These facets are selected by the facet model from a list or set of manually defined or machine-learned facets for particular conversational topic types. The Facet Recommender then generates new conversational utterances (i.e., short neutral, positive or negative suggestions) about particular facets based on the sentiments associated with those facets. In various implementations, utterances are fit to one or more predefined conversational frameworks.

The data objects are modified by replaying the log transactions on the data objects in the main memory. Then, the data objects in the persistence data volumes are modified.
