  • Publication number: 20230040058
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support communication between a base station and a user equipment (UE) via multiple transmission reception points (TRPs). The base station may configure the UE to report a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for various transmission modes, including one or more transmission modes for multiple TRPs. The UE may determine and report first PMI to the base station for each single TRP transmission mode, and the base station may use the first PMI to determine a precoding matrix for each TRP. The UE may determine and report partial PMI to the base station for the one or more multi-TRP transmission modes. The base station may use respective partial PMI to determine a precoding matrix for each multi-TRP transmission mode and may communicate with the UE using the determined precoding matrix or matrices.

  • Patent number: 11569878
Abstract: Precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback for Type II channel state information (CSI) feedback in new radio (NR) multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) operations is discussed. According to various aspects, a user equipment (UE) determines a plurality of CSI feedback components and identifies a set of discarded ones of these components based on a particular component value of a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) component. The UE may then generate an adjusted CSI report by adjusting how the discarded feedback components are treated. The resulting adjusted CSI report may then be transmitted to a serving base station.

  • Patent number: 11509367
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for channel state information (CSI) feedback for multiple discrete Fourier transform (DFT) beams on multiple transmission layers. A user equipment (UE) may report a total number of non-zero power DFT beams across all of the transmission layers. The UE may be configured with a total number of leading beams (Ktotal) across all of the transmission layers for which to provide high quantization feedback. When the total number of non-zero DFT beams across all the transmission layers exceeds the configured total number of leading beams across all the transmission layers, the UE may report high-resolution quantization feedback for Ktotal non-zero power precoding coefficients having the highest amplitude coefficients, and may report low-resolution quantization feedback for the remaining non-zero power precoding coefficients. A base station may receive the CSI feedback to determine a precoding matrix.

  • Publication number: 20220360366
Abstract: Wireless devices may use polar codes for encoding transmissions and may support combining transmissions to improve decoding reliability (e.g., by achieving chase combining and incremental redundancy (IR) gains). For example, an encoding device may puncture a set of mother code bits using different puncturing patterns to obtain different redundancy versions for a first transmission and a re-transmission. Each puncturing pattern may correspond to an equivalent decoding performance. In some cases, to obtain equivalent puncture sets, the encoding device may perform punctured index manipulation procedures on an initial puncturing pattern. A punctured index manipulation procedure may involve switching a binary state for a binary bit at a same binary bit index for each puncture index in a puncturing pattern. A device may receive the transmissions generated using the equivalent puncture sets and may combine the information for improved decoding reliability.

  • Publication number: 20220352949
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine to use one or more channel state information (CSI) omission configurations for omitting portions of a CSI report. For example, a UE may receive a trigger to report CSI, and the UE may identify that a payload of the CSI report exceeds a capacity of resources for transmitting the report. As such, the UE may determine to use one or more CSI omission configurations, where each CSI omission configuration may correspond to dropping different portions of the CSI report. The selection of the CSI omission configuration to use may be based on a set of parameters associated with CSI reporting. In some cases, the UE selects the CSI omission configuration based on an explicit indication from the base station. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may implicitly determine the CSI omission configuration based on the parameters.

  • Patent number: 11483180
Abstract: A base station may determine co-phase information and uplink precoding information (e.g., user equipment (UE) precoder information) based on one or more received sounding reference signals (SRSs) from a UE. The UE may adjust precoders or co-phase for different SRS transmissions over the one or more configured SRS resources. As such, the base station may indicate either co-phase information or uplink precoding information via an SRS resource indicator (SRI), and may transmit an explicit indication of the remaining co-phase information or uplink precoding information in addition to the SRI. In other examples (e.g., when only a single SRS resource is configured), the base station may transmit an index corresponding to uplink precoding information, as well as a separate indication of co-phase information. In some cases, a port selection pattern may be included with an explicit indication, indicating a selection of antenna port indices the precoder or co-phase index applies to.

  • Publication number: 20220329306
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may be configured with a first set of indexed timing offsets for determining offsets between uplink grants and uplink data transmissions and a second set of indexed timing offsets for determining offsets between an aperiodic channel state information (CSI) trigger and transmission of an aperiodic CSI report. A UE may receive both an uplink grant for an uplink data transmission and an aperiodic CSI report trigger. The UE may determine a timing offset for transmission of both the uplink data transmission and the aperiodic CSI report. The timing offset may be based at least in part on the first set of indexed timing offsets, the second set of indexed timing offsets, or a third set of indexed timing offsets for joint transmission of uplink data and aperiodic CSI. The UE may transmit the uplink data transmission and the aperiodic CSI report according to the timing offset.
