  • Patent number: 11356989
Abstract: Reporting aperiodic channel state information (A-CSI) via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) is disclosed. A UE receives a configuration to report aperiodic channel state information (A-CSI) using physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). The UE can report lightweight A-CSI via short/long PUCCH or may report heavy A-CSI via short/long PUCCH. The UE receives a trigger signal for PUCCH-based A-CSI reporting either by a dedicated downlink grant or by a group common DCI. When triggered via a DCI-based trigger, the PUCCH resource can be either a resource used for HARQ-ACK feedback, e.g., short PUCCH; or a semi-static configured PUCCH resource, e.g., either short PUCCH or long PUCCH. When triggered via a group common DCI-based trigger, the PUCCH resource can be either semi-statically configured, or dynamically indicated.

  • Patent number: 11342979
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In wireless systems supporting multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) transmissions, devices may implement beam-forming to improve reliability of communications. A user equipment (UE) may select a set of beams, and corresponding beam indices, for communication based on reference signals received from a base station. The UE may determine values corresponding to each of the beam indices using a scalable set of tables. For example, the UE may select a subset of the tables based on the number of selected beams, and may determine the values based on these tables. In this way, the UE may efficiently store sets of tables for multiple different configurations. The UE may sum the corresponding values to obtain a combination index value, and may transmit the combination index value to the base station. The base station may determine the selected beams based on this combination index value.

  • Publication number: 20220140842
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to techniques for encoding and decoding bits of information using cyclic redundancy check (CRC) concatenated polar encoding and decoding. The CRC concatenated polar encoding techniques may avoid transmission of dummy bits. A method generally includes obtaining the bits of information to be transmitted. The method includes performing CRC outer encoding of the bits of information using an even-weighted generator polynomial to produce CRC encoded bits. The method includes performing polar inner encoding of the CRC encoded bits to generate a codeword. The method includes discarding a first code bit at a beginning of the codeword. The shortened codeword is transmitted over a wireless medium. In another method, bit-level scrambling is performed on the CRC encoded bits before the polar encoding to avoid generating a dummy bit. In another method, only odd-weighted generator polynomials are selected to avoid generating the dummy bit.

  • Publication number: 20220131585
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform channel state information measurements on reference signal transmissions from a base station. The UE may additionally identify a set of precoding coefficients associated with a spatial layer from the set of spatial layers. In some implementations, the set of precoding coefficients may be based on the set of cross layer coefficients. In some examples, the UE may transmit the set of cross layer coefficients and the set of precoding coefficients to the base station.

  • Publication number: 20220123800
Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses for wireless communications that support transmission diversity enhancement for uplink control channel are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for enhanced performance of an uplink control channel such as a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) through the use of transmission diversity. In some cases, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) techniques may be supported for transmission of an uplink control channel for a given format suitable for transmission diversity enhancement. A resource block (RB) used in an uplink control channel transmission may contain a number of resource elements (REs) across one or more resource blocks. According to some aspects, a transmit diversity scheme may be employed at the RE level through application of different spatial precoders for different groups of REs of a given RB.

  • Patent number: 11310011
Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and apparatus for wireless communication are described that relate to transmission of a set of precoded reference signals, and using a physical resource group (PRG) size for the resources carrying the set of reference signals for channel estimation at a user equipment (UE). For example, a base station may apply a precoding matrix to a set of reference signals, and the reference signals may be configured on a set of resources. In such cases, the resources including these reference signals having a same precoding may be included in a PRG, and a size of the PRG may refer to a number of precoded reference signals for which the precoding is the same. Based on the received reference signals and the PRG size the UE may perform channel estimation based on the PRG size and transmit channel state information (CSI) to the base station.

  • Publication number: 20220109481
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform channel state information (CSI) measurements on one or more reference signal transmissions received from a base station. Based on the CSI measurements, the UE may generate a CSI report, and the UE may transmit the CSI report to the base station. In some cases, the generated CSI report may include a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may indicate whether the second portion of the CSI report includes full-band CSI feedback or partial-band CSI feedback. The second portion may provide the CSI feedback for one or more identified sub-bands. In some cases, the second portion may include a sub-band index indicating the identified sub-bands. Additionally or alternatively, the second portion may include a bitmap indicating a correspondence between multiple CSI feedback values and multiple corresponding sub-band indexes.

  • Publication number: 20220085855
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for precoder matrix quantization for compressed channel state information (CSI) feedback. A method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) (120a) includes receiving a CSI report configuration for frequency domain compressed precoder matrix feedback. The CSI report configuration configures the UE (120a) to report, for a plurality of selected beams at a plurality of time domain taps, a frequency domain compression basis vector and a plurality of linear combination coefficients associated with the frequency domain compression (805). For each of the beams, the UE (120a) groups the time domain taps into at least first and second groups. The groups each can have zero, one, or more than one time domain taps (810). The UE (120a) quantizes the corresponding linear combination coefficients and/or frequency domain compression basis vectors based on the grouping (815).
