Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for separating sheets of brittle material are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a separation apparatus for separating a sheet of brittle material includes a first separation cam positioned adjacent to a sheet conveyance pathway and a second separation cam positioned opposite from and downstream of the first separation cam. The first and second separation cams may be rotated such that the contact faces of the separation cams periodically extend across a centerline of the conveyance pathway. Rotation of the first and second separation cams may be synchronized such that at least the portion of the contact face of the first separation cam and at least the portion of the contact face of the second separation cam periodically extend across the centerline of the conveyance pathway at a separation time and periodically do not extend across the centerline of the conveyance pathway at a non-separation time.

Abstract: An iced conductor sleet jump simulation testing method is disclosed, where after an initial tension of a conductor and an initial displacement of the conductor in a static state are obtained by using a combination of a given meteorological condition and a typical meteorological condition, displacement and tension states of the conductor in a dynamic state at each discrete moment can be accurately and reliably predicted until a specific time arrives.

Abstract: A tool for preparing the end of a fiber optic cable for termination to a fiber optic connector can include a hand-held tool capable of scoring the jacket of the cable and cutting the cable. The scoring and cutting operations can be performed in one action or motion. The scoring and cutting locations can be spaced by a predetermined distance to bare a predetermined length of optical fiber. The tool may include a staging area for holding a heat-shrink sleeve, clamp, and boot in alignment while the cable is being processed. The tool also may include a cutting component for cutting strength members of the cable; and a clamp docking station to align the cable with the cutting component.

Abstract: A speech controlled sex toy receives verbal commands through audio receiving device paired with the toy, converted the speech to control signals to adjust the operation or intensity of motor within the sex toy. The sex toy has a speech recognition module to convert human voice to machine understandable control signals, and a microprocessor control module to communicate control signals to adjust the motion of motor. The method includes flowing molten glass over converging forming surfaces of a forming body positioned within an enclosure. The forming body is heated with a plurality of heating elements separated from the forming body by an inner wall of the enclosure. The temperature T2 at the bottom of the forming body is decoupled from the temperature T1 at the top of the forming body by an insulating thermal barrier positioned between two adjacent heating elements of the plurality of heating elements such that a change in T2 does not cause a substantial change in T1.

Abstract: A method for protecting a sheet surface by forming a discontinuous layer of a long-chain organic material having a main carbon chain comprising at least 12 carbon atoms and a hydrophilic group at one end of the main chain on the sheet surface. The protective layer is easy to remove using standard cleaning method, while providing satisfactory surface protection against particle contamination and scratches, at a very low coating thickness. The invention is particularly useful for protecting glass sheet surfaces during glass sheet finishing such as edge grinding and polishing. The invention is especially useful for the finishing and packaging of LCD glass substrates.
