  • Publication number: 20100330553
Abstract: Methods for sequencing nucleic acids are presented. Sequencing is accomplished through the chemical amplification of the products of DNA synthesis and the detection of the chemically amplified products. In embodiments of the invention, a substrate is provided having a plurality of molecules of DNA to be sequenced attached and a plurality of molecules capable of chelating pyrophosphate ions attached, the DNA molecules to be sequenced are primed, and a next complementary nucleotide is incorporated and excised a plurality of times leading to the buildup of pyrophosphate ions locally around the DNA molecule to be sequenced. Pyrophosphate ions are captured by the substrate-attached chelators and optically detected to determine the identity of the next complementary nucleic acid in the DNA molecule to be sequenced.

  • Publication number: 20100297392
Abstract: This disclosure features use of a paper or polymer film that includes a slip agent that can transfer to its surfaces. Once the paper or film is pressed against a glass sheet, this will leave a thin surface roughness of slip agent that can prevent or reduce glass surface scratches from other surfaces or particles during shipping or finishing (e.g., cutting to size, conveyance of glass), thereby improving the yield of glass shipments between glass forming plants and customers. The thin discontinuous layer of slip agent remaining on the glass surface can be washed off easily in subsequent washing processes. The paper or film can have the slip agent imbibed within the paper or coated on it as a surface member.

  • Patent number: 7705889
Abstract: A hybrid imaging device is configured to capture low resolution video and high resolution still images. The imaging device is configured to apply motion information obtained from the low resolution video to a reference high resolution still image to generate a missing moment of interest high resolution still image. The low-resolution video is captured at a high frame rate in conjunction with a few high-resolution still pictures taken at periodic intervals. A user locates a desired scene of interest, e.g. a moment of interest, from the captured video, and a post-processing technique is used to generate the high resolution still picture corresponding to the selected moment of interest. The high resolution still image is generated using texture information from one or more nearby captured high resolution still images and motion information from the low-resolution video frame corresponding to the selected moment of interest.

  • Publication number: 20090300351
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, apparatus and system for fast searchable encryption. The data owner encrypts files and stores the ciphertext to the server. The data owner generates an encrypted index according to each keyword of the files, and stores the encrypted index to the server. The index is composed of keyword item sets each being identified by a keyword item set locator and containing at least one or more file locators of the files associated with the corresponding keyword. Each file locator contains ciphertext of information for retrieval of an encrypted file and only with the correct file locator decryption key can the ciphertext be decrypted. Data owner issues a keyword item set locator as well as file locator decryption key to a searcher to enable the searcher to search on the encrypted index and retrieve files related to a certain keyword.
