Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a semiconductor nanostructure. The semiconductor nanostructure includes a substrate and at least one ridge. The substrate includes a first crystal plane and a second crystal plane perpendicular to the first crystal plane. The at least one ridge extends from the first crystal plane along a crystallographic orientation of the second crystal plane. A width of cross section at a position of half the height of the at least one ridge is less than 17 nm. The semiconductor nanostructure is a patterned structure which can lead to generate a quantum confinement effect, such that the impurity scattering phenomenon is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20150030244
Abstract: The disclosure concerns processing of electronic images, such as hyperspectral or multispectral images (302) to determine an output colour value for a component spectrum of a decomposed multispectral or hyperspectral image. A processor (120) first determines or accesses the component spectrum and a first colour value for the component spectrum and receives an input colour value for a pixel location in the image, wherein the component spectrum contributes to the pixel. The processor (120) then determines the output colour value for the component spectrum based on the first colour value for the component spectrum, the input colour value and a utility score and stores the output colour value for the component spectrum on a datastore (118). It is an advantage that the processor (120) receives a colour value for a pixel location but the output colour value is not exactly the received colour value but one that is determined based on a utility score.

  • Publication number: 20140373026
Abstract: A task coordination apparatus in a computing system having a distributed shared memory (DSM) coordinates the execution of two related tasks, wherein the second task has an execution variable which is modified by the first task. The task coordination apparatus creates a snapshot of a memory space in the distributed shared memory assigned to the first task and a cooperation watching area of the second task. The cooperation watching area contains a memory address pointing to a location where the execution variable of the second task is stored in the memory space assigned to the first task. The first task is allocated to a first computing node for execution, and the memory space assigned to it is updated according to the execution result. After updating the memory space, the second task is allocated to a second computing node for execution using the execution variable updated by the first task.

  • Publication number: 20130077370
Abstract: An AC-to-DC power supply apparatus and a power control structure and method thereof are provided. The provided method includes: making an AC-to-DC converter in the AC-to-DC power supply apparatus convert an AC input voltage in response to a driving signal, so as to generate a DC output voltage; sampling a rectified voltage relating to the AC input voltage, so as to provide a sampling signal; providing an output feedback signal relating to an output of the AC-to-DC converter; multiplying the sampling signal by the output feedback signal, so as to provide a product signal; performing a signal modulation on the product signal, so as to generate the driving signal to control a switching of a main power switch in the AC-to-DC converter; and performing an amplitude-limiting process on the sampling signal or the product signal.

  • Patent number: 7604877
Abstract: A ferroelectric film includes a plurality of ferroelectric nanodomains configured in a regularly staggered fashion. The ferroelectric film has a quasi 2-dimensional configuration and is comprised of a ferroelectric material. A method for forming a ferroelectric film is also provided. A ferroelectric film comprised of a ferroelectric material is prepared. The ferroelectric film has a quasi 2-dimensional configuration and defines a direction that is normal to the quasi 2-dimensional configuration. An electric field along the normal direction is applied to the ferroelectric film, thereby the ferroelectric film having an array of ferroelectric nanodomains configured in a regularly staggered fashion is obtained.

In one embodiment, the gel filtration standard comprises ovalbumin, myoglobin, and vitamin B12. In another embodiment, the gel filtration standard comprises phosphorylase b, ovalbumin, and myoglobin along with a reducing agent, such as, for example, dithiothreitol to reduce the multiple peaks of phosphorylase b to a single peak. In a third embodiment, the gel filtration standard comprises phosphorylase b, ovalbumin, myoglobin, and vitamin B12. The benefits of the gel filtration standards described herein include acceptable resolution values and usefulness in system suitability testing. The combination of markers can be used in day-to-day testing for system suitability in the denatured condition for GPC-HPLC analysis for many proteins.

  • Patent number: 7459682
Abstract: An exemplary spin-polarized electron source includes a cathode, and a one-dimensional nanostructure made of a compound (e.g., group III-V) semiconductor with local polarized gap states. The one-dimensional nanostructure includes a first end portion electrically connected with the cathode and a second end portion located/directed away from the cathode. The second end portion of the one-dimensional nanostructure functions as a polarized electron emission tip and is configured (i.e., structured and arranged) for emitting a spin-polarized electron current/beam under an effect of selectably one of a magnetic field induction and a circularly polarized light beam excitation when a predetermined negative bias voltage is applied to the cathode.
