Contextually relevant information can be presented without requiring a user to switch context or craft a search query. From within an application in which a user may consume or create content, a user may indicate text for further exploration. The application can receive the indication of an initial text selection, determine the intended selection and provide contextual search results to the user. In some implementations, the initial selection and a selection context (that includes at least some of the text surrounding the initial selection) is sent to a contextual search service which provides the intended selection and contextual search results based on the initial selection and selection context. In other implementations, text may be suggested by the contextual search service for selection from within the application.

    Abstract: A method for caching images in a virtual environment uses hash tables to store information about an application or window and to store updated images. Suitable areas of applications or windows are fixed relative to the window for many cases, and also include a relatively small number of possible display statuses. Hash tables are used on an agent side and a client side to track previous image updates. When an updated image is determined to be already stored in a cache, the agent side can transmit a hash identifying the image to the client side, and the client side can update the display with the cached image.

    Abstract: A virtual desktop can be remoted to a client device by transmitting a video stream using a video coding format, such as H.264, where higher resolution video can be streamed than natively supported by the encoder or decoder. The encoder framebuffer is divided into a plurality of equal size child buffers, each child buffer is assigned an identifier for identifying the child buffer. Padding pixels can be added to the child buffers to make the child buffer size acceptable for the video coding format. The child buffers are encoded using the video coding format and the encoded frames are transmitted to a client. On the decoder side, the encoded child frames are decoded, padding pixels are removed, and the data is used to update corresponding child buffers in a framebuffer on the client display system.

    Abstract: Improved nonaqueous electrolytes have been developed for lithium ion batteries. The electrolytes comprises a lithium salt, a nonaqueous carbonate solvent, and an additive mixture comprising at least one group A compound, at least one group B compound, and at least one group C compound wherein the group A compound is selected from the group consisting of VC and PES, the group B compound is selected from the group consisting of MMDS, DTD, TMS, ES, and PS, and the group C compound is selected from the group consisting of TTSP and TTSPi. Certain ternary or quaternary additive mixtures can: reduce parasitic reactions at the positive electrode above 4.1 V compared to use of VC alone; increase the thermal stability of a charged graphite electrode at elevated temperature; improve coulombic efficiency; and also reduce impedance of the batteries. These factors all suggest longer lived, safer, higher power lithium batteries with better tolerance to high voltages which will improve energy density.

    Abstract: A method of rolling NiW alloy tapes for coated conductors belongs to the technical field of metal materials rolling. According to the method, a cylindrical NiW alloy ingot with a diameter not less than 10 mm is used to be rolled back and forth along the axial direction as a rolling direction, wherein the content of W is 5˜7 at. %, and the axis of this ingot is perpendicular to the plane where the axes of working rollers are located. During rolling process, the cross sectional area reduction of the ingot is retained at 5% per pass. When the total cross sectional area reduction of the ingot is larger than 98% and the thickness of the tape is down to 60˜100 ?m, the rolling is stopped, and thus the NiW alloy tape is obtained.
