Publication number: 20250090318Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes an annular frame and a skirt. The frame is radially expandable and compressible between a radially compressed configuration and a radially expanded configuration. The skirt has a fold around an inflow end of the frame so as to cover at least a portion of an outer surface of the frame and at least a portion of an inner surface of the frame. When the frame is in the radially expanded configuration, an outer portion of the skirt tightly conforms to the outer surface of the frame and the inflow end of the frame is axially spaced from the fold to form an axially extending gap between the frame and the fold. When the frame is in the radially compressed configuration, the inflow end of the frame extends axially so as to at least partially fill the axially extending gap.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2024Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: EDWARDS LIFESCIENCES CORPORATIONInventors: Liron Tayeb, Tamir S. Patent number: 12245756Abstract: Valvular implants and blood vessel closure devices herein are configured to be positioned in the heart and to block regurgitant blood flow from the heart into blood vessels supplying blood to the heart. The valvular implants can have a cover, a membrane, a valve, a resilient frame, and/or other features. Some valvular implants can have anchors to be positioned in the blood vessels, such as in pulmonary veins, and can anchor the implant to the heart wall. Various embodiments of covers and/or membranes act as valves contracting and expanding, to alternately permit and block blood flow. The valvular implants can cover one or more blood vessels, such as one, two, three, or four pulmonary veins, and can also be configured and implanted to block an appendage to the heart, such as the left atrial appendage.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2021Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Assignee: EDWARDS LIFESCIENCES CORPORATIONInventors: Boaz Manash, Eitan Atias, Liron Tayeb, Amir Blumenfeld, David Maimon, Eyal Leiba

Publication number: 20240358511Abstract: The active introducer sheath systems disclosed herein are expanded by activating a translation mechanism at the handle. The sheath has an inner cylindrical structure of comingled fixed and mobile elongate rods bound together by an attachment line. Activating the translation mechanism causes the mobile rods to move axially with respect to the fixed rods, changing the internal tension in the attachment line. Increased tension draws the fixed and mobile rods closer together, decreasing the diameter of the cylindrical structure. Decreased tension in the attachment line enables the fixed and mobile rods to move apart, increasing the diameter of the cylindrical structure. A prosthetic device, such as a prosthetic heart valve, can be routed through the expanded sheath and to the implantation site. During implantation, the sheath can be contracted back to its original outer diameter, and expanded again for retrieval of the delivery apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2024Publication date: October 31, 2024Inventors: David Maimon, Liron Tayeb, Eran Goldberg
