Patent number: 12136528Abstract: Methods and systems for providing computer implemented services using user input are disclosed. To obtain the user input, a passive human interface device may be used. The human interface device may include any number of magnets that may produce a magnetic field used to discern the user input. The magnets may be mechanically coupled to actuatable elements of the human interface device thereby encoding information regarding actuations of the human interface device into the magnetic field produced by the magnets. The magnetic field may be sensed and used to identify actuations by the user which may indicate input from the user.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2023Date of Patent: November 5, 2024Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Michiel Sebastiaan Emanuel Petrus Knoppert, Gerald Rene Pelissier, Thomas Marcus Hinskens

Patent number: 12067744Abstract: Systems and methods detect the posture of a user of an IHS (Information Handling System). An image is generated of a user and of the physical environment in which the user is operating the IHS. The image is processed to generate segregated images of the user and of the physical environment. The segregated image of the physical environment is classified as corresponding to a known environment in which the user has operated the IHS and that is associated with a probability of an ergonomic posture being used while in that particular environment. The segregated image of the user is processed to determine a physical posture of the user relative to the IHS. An ergonomic risk score is generated based on deviations of the user's posture from an ideal posture. The ergonomic risk score is scaled based on the probability of an ergonomic posture being used, due to the environment.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2022Date of Patent: August 20, 2024Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh, Ruizhi Joyce Lu

Patent number: 11868551Abstract: Methods and systems for providing computer implemented services using user input are disclosed. To obtain the user input, a human interface device may be used. Interpretation of actuation of the human interface device may be customized to the types of actuations that users are able to perform. To customize the types of the actuations, users may perform actuations of the human interface device for various types of user input to establish associations between the actuations and the user input. The associations may be used to train an inference model usable to identify user input based on performed actions of the human interface device.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2023Date of Patent: January 9, 2024Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Gerald Rene Pelissier, Michiel Sebastiaan Emanuel Petrus Knoppert, Loo Shing Tan, Thomas Marcus Hinskens

Publication number: 20230377264Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for determining a posture of a user of an Information Handling System (IHS). One or more cameras of the IHS are utilized to generate a two-dimensional image of the user as they operate the IHS. Landmarks that correspond to physical features of the user are identified through processing of the two-dimensional image generated using the cameras. The system then identifies, from a database comprising a plurality of differing wireframes, a subset of the wireframes that optimally match the physical feature landmarks of the user, each of the wireframes associated with an ergonomic level, and performs a regression analysis technique on the ergonomic level of each of the subset of wireframes to determine a posture score of the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2022Publication date: November 23, 2023Applicant: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh
