Patent number: 11755450Abstract: System and methods are provided for detecting and suggesting breaks in activity by a user of an Information Handling System (IHS). I/O operations by the user of the IHS are monitored, without use of a camera and thus within privacy restrictions. Upon initiating the activity monitoring, a timer is initialized. Using the timer, intervals are identified with no activity by the user, thus indicating the user has taken a break from operating the IHS. Based on the monitored user activity, intervals are also identified with uninterrupted operation of the IHS by the user, such as monitored activity by the user without identifying an interval of inactivity that indicates the user has taken a break. Upon detection of an interval with uninterrupted operation of the IHS, the user is presented with a suggestion to take a break from operation of the IHS.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2022Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh, Ruizhi Joyce Lu, Chau Pham Ngoc Minh, Vera Venkata Satyanarayana Chowdary Parimi

Patent number: 11756333Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for determining a posture of a user of an Information Handling System (IHS). One or more cameras of the IHS are utilized to generate a two-dimensional image of the user as they operate the IHS. Landmarks that correspond to physical features of the user are identified through processing of the two-dimensional image generated using the cameras. A time-of-flight sensor of the IHS is utilized to generate a three-dimensional image of the user. The identified physical feature landmarks of the user are overlayed onto the three-dimensional image, thus allowing distances from the IHS to each of the landmarks to be determined. Based on the overlay of the physical feature landmarks onto the three-dimensional image a posture of the user relative to the IHS is determined. The posture may be scored based on the degree to which the user's posture deviates from an ergonomic posture.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2022Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh, Ruizhi Joyce Lu, Weixian Li

Publication number: 20230263440Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting mental fatigue by a user of an Information Handling System (IHS). Upon the user initiating operation of the IHS, activity by the user and physiological parameters of the user are monitored using capabilities of the IHS and, in some cases by wearable devices. Estimates of the user’s mental fatigue during the session are generated based on the monitoring. Embodiments identify when the user takes a break from operating the IHS and also identify when the user resumes use of the IHS. Upon the user resuming the session, the user is prompted for their level of mental fatigue prior to taking the break, thus providing a reliable source of feedback data that is utilized in updating and improving machine learning models that are used to generate the estimates of the user’s mental fatigue based on observed physiological parameters and activity by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh, Ruizhi Joyce Lu

Publication number: 20230267637Abstract: Systems and methods detect the posture of a user of an IHS (Information Handling System). An image is generated of a user and of the physical environment in which the user is operating the IHS. The image is processed to generate segregated images of the user and of the physical environment. The segregated image of the physical environment is classified as corresponding to a known environment in which the user has operated the IHS and that is associated with a probability of an ergonomic posture being used while in that particular environment. The segregated image of the user is processed to determine a physical posture of the user relative to the IHS. An ergonomic risk score is generated based on deviations of the user's posture from an ideal posture. The ergonomic risk score is scaled based on the probability of an ergonomic posture being used, due to the environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Loo Shing Tan, Seng Khoon Teh, Ruizhi Joyce Lu
