  • Patent number: 4968578
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved method of non-electrostatically transferring dry toner particles which comprise a toner binder and which have a particle size of less than 8 micrometers from an element to a receiver. The receiver comprises a substrate having a coating of a thermoplastic polymer thereon and a layer of a releasing agent on the coating, where the polymer has a T.sub.g less than 10.degree. C. above the T.sub.g of the toner binder, and the release agent is present in an amount sufficient to prevent the polymer from adhering to the element. The receiver is heated to a temperature such that its temperature during transfer is above the T.sub.g of the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4599290
Abstract: A carrier for an electrographic developer composition is provided, comprising on its surface a polymer having at least one repeating unit to which is appended a monovalent chlorendate group containing a carboxylic acid group or a metal salt thereof. The carriers exhibit high negative triboelectric charging characteristics and therefore provide a highly positive developer composition.

  • Patent number: 4547449
Abstract: Liquid electrographic developers are disclosed comprising an electrically insulating liquid carrier, toner, a charge-control agent and a charging agent. The charge-control agent is a carrier-soluble, addition copolymer of a quaternary ammonium salt monomer, a monomer having --COOH, --SO.sub.3 H or --PO.sub.3 HR acidic function wherein R is hydrogen or alkyl, and a solubilizing monomer. The charging agent is a carrier-soluble, addition polar copolymer. The disclosed developers exhibit improved replenishability as evidenced by reduced buildup of charge in the developers during the course of use and repeated replenishment.
