  • Patent number: 6244181
Abstract: A method is provided for preparing a negative working lithographic printing plate precursor by applying a dry powder, containing a light absorbing compound in an amount not less than 50% by weight, on a metal support such as an anodized aluminum plate. The light absorbing compound is preferably carbon, soot or an infrared dye. In one embodiment of the invention, the dry powder may be rubbed in on the surface of the metal support. In another embodiment a layer of soot is applied on the metal support by contacting the surface of the support with a flame. In still another embodiment, a metal support is contacted with a transfer material consisting of a support and a dry layer of a light absorbing compound such as carbon. By applying heat or light, the dry powder is converted into a hydrophobic substance at the printing areas of the plate.

  • Patent number: 6240376
Abstract: Methods of instrumenting synthesizable source code to enable debugging support akin to high-level language programming environments for gate-level simulation are provided. One method of facilitating gate level simulation includes generating cross-reference instrumentation data including instrumentation logic indicative of an execution status of at least one synthesizable register transfer level (RTL) source code statement. A gate-level netlist is synthesized from the source code. Evaluation of the instrumentation logic during simulation of the gate-level netlist facilitates simulation by indicating the execution status of a corresponding source code statement. One method results in a modified gatelevel netlist to generate instrumentation signals corresponding to synthesizable statements within the source code. This may be accomplished by modifying the source code or by generating the modified gate-level netlist as if the source code was modified during synthesis.

  • Patent number: RE37214
Abstract: A side dam assembly for a continuous casting apparatus for continuously casting thin steel strips between casting rolls. The side dam assembly has a side dam for bearing directly against the rolls of the casting apparatus for preventing leakage of molten metal therebetween. The side dam is attached by a pair of belts to an insulating refractory plate which is carried by a cooled panel. To allow axial motion, one of the belts is not rigidly affixed to either the insulating refractory plate or the side dam. The cooled panel is carried by a thrust plate and is urged toward the rolls by biasing elements which preferably comprise a plurality of pistons urged outwardly from the thrust plate by springs. Preferably, the biasing elements are constructed and arranged so that they are distributed over a zone of shape corresponding to that of the side dam and are capable of exerting on the side dam thrust forces independently of one another.
