The external sliding threshold laterally projects from the exterior surface of the vehicle to reduce or eliminate a spatial gap between the vehicle and a platform from which the one or more passengers enter the vehicle or onto which the one or more passengers exit the vehicle.

The threshold is configured to slide along a sliding axis. The threshold includes a latch and a tongue at a car body-engaging end of the latch. The locking device also includes a groove block and a hook plate both configured to be coupled to the car body. Optionally, the locking device can include a switch sensor. The tongue of the threshold is configured to engage the groove to maintain alignment of the hook plate to mate with the latch to lock the threshold to the car body. The optional switch sensor can be configured to generate a signal indicating a locked state of the hook with the latch responsive to actuation of the switch sensor by the latch.

    Abstract: A retention and guide assembly for a vehicle door includes a guide track connected to a door panel of the vehicle door. The guide track includes sidewalls that at least partially extend around and define an internal recessed volume. The sidewalls include a first sidewall coupled with the door panel and a second sidewall coupled with and oriented transverse to the first sidewall. The guide track includes a retaining flange that is coupled with and oriented transverse to the second sidewall. The sidewalls and the retaining flange are shaped to receive (within the internal recessed volume) a roller of a control arm extending from a vehicle body. The retaining flange engages the control arm and/or the roller and retain the roller within the internal recessed volume of the guide track between the second sidewall and the door panel of the vehicle door.
