Patent number: 12074792Abstract: In one embodiment, a gateway label edge router (G-LER) receives a packet destined for a mobile domain that comprises a vehicle label edge router. The G-LER identifies, from among a plurality of primary domains, a particular primary domain that currently has a label switched connection with the mobile domain. The label switched connection connects the vehicle label edge router of the mobile domain and a cluster label edge router of the particular primary domain. The G-LER sends the packet to the cluster label edge router of the particular primary domain for transmission to the vehicle label edge router via the label switched connection. The G-LER tracks when the vehicle label edge router of the mobile domain establishes a new label switched connection with a second cluster label edge router of a different primary domain in the plurality of primary domains than that of the particular primary domain.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2023Date of Patent: August 27, 2024Assignee: Fluidmesh Networks S.r.l.Inventors: Luca Bisti, Alessandro Erta, Umberto Malesci

Patent number: 12052648Abstract: In one embodiment, a device obtains location data indicative of a location of a mobile system relative to a base station of a wireless network. The device predicts, based on the location data, a drop in received signal strength indicator as the mobile system approaches the base station. The device determines, based on the drop in received signal strength indicator or throughput that will occur as the mobile system approaches the base station. The device prevents the mobile system from communicating with the base station during the ban.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2021Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Gaetano Catalli, Alessandro Erta, Luca Bisti

Publication number: 20230379814Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile system receives a group identifier for wireless access points associated with a pathway via which the mobile system is to travel. The mobile system receives, during travel of the mobile system along the pathway, beacons from a plurality of wireless access points. Each of the plurality of wireless access points indicates its group identifier in its beacon. The mobile system selects, based on the beacons, a particular access point from among the plurality of wireless access points for roaming, in part by giving preference to any access points in the plurality of wireless access points having a group identifier that matches the group identifier associated with the pathway. The mobile system wirelessly roams to the particular access point.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2022Publication date: November 23, 2023Inventors: Alessandro Erta, Luca BISTI, Gaetano CATALLI, Carmine BENEDETTO

Publication number: 20230379758Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a wireless network selects a transmission rate for one or more packets to be sent, based on a received signal strength indicator value. The device makes a determination that the one or more packets should be compressed, based on the transmission rate selected by the device. The device applies, based on the determination, stateless offline dictionary compression to the one or more packets, to form a compressed stream of one or more packets. The device sends the compressed stream via the wireless network and using the transmission rate selected by the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2022Publication date: November 23, 2023Inventors: Alessandro Erta, Carmine BENEDETTO, Rupak CHANDRA, Luca BISTI

Patent number: 11483752Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile radio station in communication with a current base station of a plurality of base stations receives hello packets from one or more of the base stations. The hello packets from the current base station are received on a first frequency via a first mobile radio unit (M1) and the hello packets from one or more base stations are received on a second frequency via a second mobile radio unit (M2). When the signal strength value of the current base station exceeds a threshold value, the mobile radio station: selects a destination from the plurality of base stations based on the destination having a highest signal strength value among those in the plurality of base stations that sent hello packets to M2 on the second frequency, and forces a handoff from M1 to M2, by establishing a new link between M2 and the destination base station.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2020Date of Patent: October 25, 2022Assignee: FLUIDMESH NETWORKS S.R.I.Inventors: Gaetano Catalli, Alessandro Erta, Luca Bisti, Umberto Malesci
