  • Patent number: 11304110
Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile receiver of a mobile station in communication with a current base station of a plurality of base stations receives hello packets from one or more base stations the plurality of base stations, each hello packet including a base station identifier that identifies which base station transmitted that packet. The receiver determines, based on the hello packets, signal strength values associated with each of the plurality of base stations. The receiver periodically analyzes the signal strength values associated with the current base station, to determine whether those signal strength values exceed a threshold value associated with the current base station.

  • Publication number: 20210185580
Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile radio station in communication with a current base station of a plurality of base stations receives hello packets from one or more of the base stations. The hello packets from the current base station are received on a first frequency via a first mobile radio unit (M1) and the hello packets from one or more base stations are received on a second frequency via a second mobile radio unit (M2). When the signal strength value of the current base station exceeds a threshold value, the mobile radio station: selects a destination from the plurality of base stations based on the destination having a highest signal strength value among those in the plurality of base stations that sent hello packets to M2 on the second frequency, and forces a handoff from M1 to M2, by establishing a new link between M2 and the destination base station.

  • Publication number: 20210126858
Abstract: In one embodiment, a gateway label edge router (G-LER) receives a packet destined for a mobile domain that comprises a vehicle label edge router. The G-LER identifies, from among a plurality of primary domains, a particular primary domain that currently has a label switched connection with the mobile domain. The label switched connection connects the vehicle label edge router of the mobile domain and a cluster label edge router of the particular primary domain. The G-LER sends the packet to the cluster label edge router of the particular primary domain for transmission to the vehicle label edge router via the label switched connection. The G-LER tracks when the vehicle label edge router of the mobile domain establishes a new label switched connection with a second cluster label edge router of a different primary domain in the plurality of primary domains than that of the particular primary domain.

  • Patent number: 10484113
Abstract: A method of selecting a data transmission rate for transmitting a packet from a transmitting node to a receiving node in a wireless communication system. An updated predictive received signal quality indicator value reflecting signal quality expected to be experienced by the receiving node on the packet received from the transmitting node is obtained, as is a best instance data transmission rate corresponding to a received signal quality indicator sub-range that includes the obtained updated predictive received signal quality indicator value. The packet from the transmitting node is transmitted to the receiving node using the obtained best instance. The transmitting node periodically performs a test procedure wherein a packet is instead transmitted using a test instance selected among the set of instances for the received signal quality indicator sub-range that includes the obtained updated predictive received signal quality indicator value.

  • Patent number: 9769708
Abstract: A method of mobility management in a label-switched network comprising a primary domain comprising N label-switched nodes, with N>1, and a mobile domain comprising M mobile label-switched nodes, with M?1, the mobile domain being movable with respect to said primary domain, packets routing between the primary domain and the mobile domain being performed by means of a primary border node, selected from the N label-switched nodes, and a mobile border node, selected from the M mobile label-switched nodes, wherein a handoff procedure is executed that establishes a label switched connection between the primary border node and the mobile border node.

  • Patent number: 9307413
Abstract: In a wireless or hybrid mesh communication system, radio frequencies are managed by assigning an in-use frequency channel to each local family of nodes, distributing spare frequency channel(s) among the local families of nodes, and changing the in-use frequency channel of at least one selected local family of nodes to a new frequency channel selected among its spare frequency channel(s), if any, or among the spare frequency channel(s) of another local family of nodes if said at least one selected local family of nodes has no spare frequency channel(s), and/or as the in-use frequency channel of another local family of nodes if none of said local families of nodes has spare frequency channel(s).

  • Patent number: 8355368
Abstract: Method of detour path determination for data packets re-routing in a mesh network comprising a plurality of N nodes, arranged according to a network topology, each node has a K-hops neighborhood knowledge of the network topology, with 1?K<N, primary paths are predefined for routing data packets within the mesh network. Detour paths are automatically discovered and set up while expending relatively few resources in terms of processing complexity, signaling and information spreading. The method is particularly advantageous when used in a wireless mesh network wherein the available bandwidth and the node resources and capabilities are much more limited than in wired networks.
