  • Patent number: 4553873
Abstract: A connecting fitting for releasably connecting two platelike furniture members, which extend preferably at right angles to each other comprises two fitting elements adapted to be secured to respective furniture members to be connected. One of said fitting elements is pin-shaped and provided with an enlarged head and adapted to be slidably inserted into an aperture or recess of the other fitting element until the fitting elements and/or furniture members engage each other. The other fitting element is provided with a spring-loaded locking member, which comprises a forked portion for straddling the first-mentioned fitting element below its head in order to lock the fitting members to each other.

  • Patent number: 4509229
Abstract: A concealed hinge assembly for use with doors, hinged plates or the like comprises a mounting plate and a projecting base member connected to the mounting plate. A hinge bracket is screw-connected to said base member adjacent to one end of said hinge bracket and at its other end is so connected to one side of a pot-shaped member that the one end of the hinge bracket enters the pot-shaped member during the closing movement. A slider which is biased by two parallel coiled compression springs is guided in the pot-shaped member in a radial plane and carries a cam, which during the closing movement cooperates with a projection or the like carried by the hinge bracket.

  • Patent number: 4502807
Abstract: A connecting fixture is provided for detachably connecting two platelike furniture parts, which abut preferably at right angles to each other. The connecting fixture comprises two fixture elements, which are adapted to be secured to one of the furniture parts to be connected and one of which comprises a detent lever, which is mounted to be pivotally movable against the force of a spring and at its forward end carries a hook-shaped detent projection, which when the detent lever has been pushed into an opening of the other fixture element snaps with its rear side face behind a step or bar of the other fixture element, which step or bar has a supporting edge. The radial distance from said side face to the pivotal axis of the detent lever continuously decreases toward the root of said side face and the side face when snapped in lies on the supporting edge above the root of the side face.

  • Patent number: 4430771
Abstract: A hinge bracket-mounting plate assembly comprises a detent nose carried at the end of a spring-loaded detent lever and also has a detent opening or detent abutment. When the hinge bracket has been inserted into a track of the mounting plate and pushed along the latter, the detent nose snaps into the detent opening or against the detent abutment to releasably lock the parts together. The extent to which the hinge bracket can be pushed along the mounting plate is limited by a stop, which becomes effective when the detent nose snaps or after it has snapped into the detent opening or against the detent abutment. To eliminate backlash, the detent nose has an engaging side face, which bears on an edge or surface of the detent opening or detent abutment to force a stop carried by the hinge bracket or the mounting plate into backlash-free engagement with a complementary stop carried by the other part.

  • Patent number: 4423537
Abstract: In the hinge bracket-mounting plate assembly the mounting plate is provided on both sides with parallel guiding grooves, in which sliding lugs angled inwardly from the flanges of the channel-shaped hinge bracket are slidable as far as stops formed by end faces of the grooves, and detents are provided for releasably locking the hinge bracket to the mounting plate. The mounting bracket is formed with a recess, which extends transversely to and connects the guiding grooves. Two sliding plates are provided, which overlap each other in the middle region of the mounting plate and are guided in the recess and formed with two substantially diagonal slots, which cross each other and extend between parts of diagonally opposite corner portions of respective sliding plates. The mounting plate is formed in its center plane between the guiding grooves with a bore, which is parallel to said grooves.

  • Patent number: 4417366
Abstract: The mounting plate has a track for slidably guiding the hinge bracket in an axial direction and a bore for longitudinally slidably guiding a spring-loaded detent pin, which protrudes from the bore and is held captive therein by at least one stop in the surface defining the bore. The hinge bracket has a sloping surface, which is arranged to force the detent pin into the bore as the hinge bracket is slidably moved onto the mounting plate. The hinge bracket also has a surface which as the hinge bracket is pushed over the detent pin holds the latter in a depressed position until the detent pin snaps into a detent opening of the hinge bracket so that the latter is releasably fixed. A locking mechanism of the type used in retractable ball point pens is provided and is adapted to lock the detent pin in two different (partly extended and fully extended) positions. The pin is adapted to be moved from one of said positions to the other in that the detent pin is depressed into the bore and then released.

  • Patent number: 4332053
Abstract: A concealed furniture hinge which comprises a stationary hinge portion and a cup-shaped pivotable hinge portion, both pivotally interconnected by two links to form a four-bar linkage. The stationary hinge portion comprises a securing plate and two parallel upstanding bearing flanges. Pivot pins for the respective links are secured in the bearing flanges at a height so that, when the hinge is closed, they project into the cup-shaped hinge portion to at least beneath the top of a securing flange thereof. Said securing flange comprises at least one flat member which, in the closed hinge condition, is disposed adjacent the securing plate of the stationary hinge portion.

  • Patent number: 4226001
Abstract: Two relatively swingable members interconnected by a pair of hinge straps are biased into either of two predetermined relative positions, 90.degree. apart, by a hairpin-type leaf spring bearing upon a projection of one hinge strap while being wound about a pintle engaged by the other hinge strap. The leaf spring consists of at least two nested plies of sheet steel, which may or may not be interconnected at one end, each having a thickness which is less than that of a single-ply spring of like material having the same degree of elasticity. The innermost ply is supported by a bushing of plastic material surrounding the associated pintle.

  • Patent number: 4050116
Abstract: A self-closing hinge consisting of a device inserted in the fixed fitting of the hinge and achieving the kinematic diagram of a linked and deformable quadrilateral. The hinge consists of a fixed fitting and of a movable fitting connected to each other by two tumblers which constitute with the latter the sides of the linked and deformable quadrilateral. One of the tumblers carries cams on which a spring at least applies through a bent lever and at least a roller.

  • Patent number: 4011627
Abstract: A mounting for a hinge or the like has a generally rectangular base with a longitudinal rib received in a longitudinally coextensive but transversely enlarged recess of a generally rectangular cover which can be laterally shifted on the rib and secured to it in a selected relative position. The longitudinal edges of the cover, spaced from the base, are engaged by inbent lips of a channel-shaped slider embracing the cover, this slider being immobilizable in a selected longitudinal position by two longitudinally spaced screws; thanks to a curving of the aforementioned edges away from the base, selective tightening of the screws enables the slider to be fastened to the cover in different positions of relative inclination whereby an extremity of that member is independently adjustable in three dimensions with respect to the base.

  • Patent number: 4007514
Abstract: A hinge mounting device for use with conventional doors or furniture doors may be easily mounted and adjustably positioned on the door frame or cabinet. The device includes a base plate which is attached to the furniture or door frame and a hinge fitting which is adjustably mounted to the base plate. The fitting carries the hinge mechanism. The base plate is elongate and has a pair of longitudinally extending grooves on its opposite sides. The hinge fitting is generally U-shaped in cross section to fit longitudinally over the top of the base plate, and has inwardly extending flanges which are received in the longitudinal grooves in the side of the base plate. A pair of screws are threaded through the top wall of the U-shaped fitting and are adjusted so that they may engage, selectively, the top surface of the base plate. One of the screws locks the fitting in a selected longitudinal position along the base plate and the other screw controls the angular position of the fitting with respect to the base plate.
