  • Publication number: 20180094454
Abstract: A sliding window and door lock including: A housing, where the housing is attached to at least one of a window sill and the floor next to a sliding door; a pivoting latch and a pivot, where the pivot attaches the pivoting latch to the housing, where the pivot is located farther along the path of travel of the at least one of a sliding window and sliding door when the housing is mounted to the at least one of a window sill and the floor, wherein the pivoting latch is adapted to pivot from being flush with the edge of the housing into the path of travel of the at least one of a sliding window and a sliding door, wherein the edge of the pivoting latch interfaces with the at least one of a sliding window and a sliding door, wherein the force of the at least one of a sliding window and sliding door would be obstructed by the pivoting latch being forced into the pivot.

  • Publication number: 20150247874
Abstract: A method of detecting a presence of an analyte in a sample. The method includes selecting an aptamer selective to the analyte and binding the aptamer to a nanoparticle. The nanoparticles having a free state are perceived as a first color and an aggregate state are perceived as a second color. The sample is introduced to the nanoparticle-bound aptamers, and aggregation of the nanoparticles is promoted. A colorimetric change is analyzed, wherein the aggregate state of the nanoparticles is achieved in the presence of the analyte in the sample.

  • Publication number: 20080316312
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a vehicle and obtaining video of an accident or other criminal incident are described. An embodiment of the system includes one or more cameras mounted on a vehicle, a wireless transmitter, and a contact detection system comprising a processor in electrical communication with the one or more cameras, the wireless transmitter and one or more sensors configured to detect a potential contact event, wherein the processor is configured to receive an indication in response to one or more of the sensors detecting the potential contact event, activate at least one of the cameras to capture video data subsequent to receiving the indication of the potential contact event, determine whether or not the contact event occurs and discard the captured video data in response to determining that the contact event did not occur.

  • Patent number: 7059068
Abstract: A height adjustable flexible shoe including a shoe upper portion having an open upper end, a closed lower end, and a body portion therebetween. The open upper end is dimensioned for receiving a foot therein. The closed lower end has a toe portion and a back portion. The back portion has a first heel portion extending downwardly therefrom. The body portion is comprised of an adjustable elastomeric material. A second heel portion is adapted for removably coupling with the first heel portion of the shoe upper portion. A third heel portion is adapted for removably coupling with the second heel portion. The first, second, and third heel portions are of substantially equal heights to provide significant control over the inclination of the shoe.

  • Publication number: 20050287055
Abstract: A method is shown for producing food grade hydrated lime. A source of raw, hydrated lime is first passed through a classification step which divides the raw hydrated lime into a first fine stream and a first coarse stream. The first fine stream is passed through a further separation step and, without being recombined with the first coarse stream is separated out to form a very fine sized product which meets CODEX chemical specifications. The additional separation step may be a wet process and may utilize a hydrocyclone type separator.

  • Patent number: 6556796
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for facilitating the loading of a hollow cylindrical drum, for example, an image-recording drum in an electrostatographic printer or the like, onto a rotatably driven drum axle having a free end extending outwardly in a cantilever manner from a support frame and having a longitudinally-extending axis of rotation. According to a preferred embodiment, such apparatus generally comprises a plurality of slide mechanisms disposed at equal distances from each other and from the intended axis of drum rotation. Each of the slide mechanisms comprises a pair of elongated slide members extending parallel to said axis of rotation, one of the slide members of each of each pair being rigidly supported by said drum axle, and the other slide members of each pair being slidably mounted on the rigidly supported slide members for movement parallel to the drum axis.
