  • Patent number: 11187010
Abstract: A forced-entry resistant sash lock includes a housing, a shaft pivotally mounted to the housing, a cam mounted on the shaft using an elongated opening permitting selective rotational and translational movements, and a separation member secured to the shaft. In the unlocked position, upon shaft rotation in a first direction a cam surface on the separation member engages a follower surface on the cam causing co-rotation of the cam into a non-forced entry-resistant locked position, and upon continued rotation the cam surface moves relative to the follower surface causing cam translation into a forced-entry-resistant locked position through movement of the shaft within the elongated opening, until an engagement surface of the separation member engages a contact surface of the cam, preventing forced reverse cam translation. The cam translation causes a cam stop surface to engage a housing stop surface preventing forced cam counter-rotation.

  • Patent number: 11168492
Abstract: A tamper-resistant sash window lock includes a housing, a shaft, a cam, and a lever member. An interior surface of the housing wall that defines a cavity. A portion of the interior surface of the housing wall is curved about a hole in the housing, with a distal end of the wall portion formed into a lock surface. The shaft is rotatably mounted in the hole, and a hub of the cam is rotatably mounted on the shaft. The cam has a cantilevered arm with a lock surface and an engagement surface. The lever member is fixedly secured to the shaft, for a first side thereof to engage and drive the cam hub in a first rotational direction into a lock position when the shaft is actuated in the first rotational direction, so the lock surface of the cantilevered arm engages the lock surface of the housing preventing forced entry.

  • Patent number: 11168495
Abstract: A vent stop includes: a housing; a tumbler; a biasing member having a first portion secured to the tumbler and a second portion in movable contact with a housing track, to selectively bias the tumbler. Movement of the second portion along the track is coordinated with sequential pivoting of the tumbler between extended, retracted, partially extended, and intermediate positions. In the extended position, a tumbler bearing surface limits opening of the sash member. When toggled from the extended position to the retracted position and subsequently released, outward bias of the tumbler is limited to the partially extended position by contact of the second portion with a track recess. Subsequent contact of the sash member with the deflection surface causes pivoting from the partially extended to the intermediate position, permitting unrestricted sash member opening, release of the second portion from the contact point, and biasing back toward the extended position.

  • Patent number: 11118376
Abstract: A sash window fastener includes: a latch assembly; a lock assembly mounted upon the meeting rail; and a stop assembly mounted to the master frame. The lock assembly includes a pivotable cam to engage a keeper on the master frame to lock the window, and a pivotable follower arm, which interconnects with the latch assembly within the meeting rail, so cam rotation that drives arm rotation also causes translation of the latch. The cam occupies: an extended position to secure the cam to the keeper, with the latch tongue engaging the master frame to prevent tilting, also being positioned below a stop assembly protrusion to redundantly lock the window; a first retracted position permitting sliding of the window; and a second retracted position permitting tilting of the sash window. A slidable stop on the stop assembly dampens sliding sash window movement and subsequently acts as a vent stop.

  • Patent number: 10920469
Abstract: An adjustable stop limits sliding sash window/door travel between a closed position and a safe position, where the safe position is a position less than a full-open position. The stop can be installed upon window/door master frames during initial manufacturing, or as an after-market option while the sash windows/doors are in service in a building. The safety stop may be comprised of a housing and a tumbler being pivotally mounted within a cavity in the housing, with a spring to bias the tumbler out of an opening in the housing. Mounting is by a flange extending from the housing, with spacers of varying thickness that are capable of removably attaching thereon to accommodate sash to master frame height differences. A safety member may be added to either the tumbler or housing to create a double action stop, requiring disengagement of the safety member, prior to toggling of the stop.

  • Patent number: 10844636
Abstract: A window fastener includes a forced-entry-resistant sash lock and tilt latch assembly. The sash lock is actuated to engage a keeper to lock the closed sash window. The tilt latch assembly permits sliding of the unlocked window, and prevents tilting until the tilt latch assembly is actuated by the interconnected sash lock. The sash lock and tilt latch assembly cooperate with a stop member secured to a master window frame, to limit opening of the window to a position between the closed position and a full open position, through contact of the latch assembly with a portion of the stop member. The sash lock is configured to actuate the latch assembly into a cocked position, permitting window movement beyond the limited position, and selective contact between the latch assembly and stop member that triggers latch assembly repositioning, causing automatic locking of the sash window when moved into the closed position.
