  • Publication number: 20160080313
Abstract: A communication network allocates internal Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to wireless communication devices and translates between external IP addresses and the internal IP addresses to transfer data communications between the wireless communication devices and data communication systems. The communication network receives discovery requests for the wireless communication devices and responsively transfers discovery responses describing the IP address allocations and translations for individual wireless communication devices. The communication network receives content delivery footprint data indicating the IP address allocations and translations for the wireless communication devices and transfers the content delivery footprint data to a content distribution network.

  • Patent number: 9210621
Abstract: A method and corresponding system to help maintain continuity of service level for a client device, such as where the client device is being served by an access network in accordance with a set of policy rules and the client device is going to stop being served by that access network and may then be served by another network. To help provide service continuity, the serving access network may detect that the client device is going to stop being served by the access network, and, responsively but before the client device stops being served by the access network, the access network or another entity may provision the client device with one or more service policy rules that the client device itself may then apply when the client device is no longer being served by the access network, such as when the client device is being served by another network instead.

  • Patent number: 9179497
Abstract: A wireless communication network exchanges wireless data with wireless communication devices and transfers device data indicating device locations and device status to a network server. A sensor system detects a trigger condition and responsively determines proximate wireless communication devices. The sensor system transfers indications of the trigger condition and the currently proximate wireless communication devices to the network server. The network server processes the device data, trigger condition, and proximate wireless communication devices to generate notice data indicating the trigger condition and to select at least one of the wireless communication devices for receipt of the notice data. The network server transfers the notice data to the selected wireless communication devices over the wireless communication network.

  • Patent number: 9154955
Abstract: A mobile communication device. The device comprises a cellular radio transceiver, a processor, a memory, and an application stored in the memory. When executed by the processor, the application receives an input that initiates access to a premium communication service via an untrusted network, determines whether an authentication payload is stored in the memory. When the application determines it is not stored in the memory, it transmits via the cellular radio transceiver to a media gateway a request to execute a service provided by an authorization server, receives an authentication payload from the media gateway via the cellular ratio transceiver, stores the authentication payload in the memory, and accesses the premium communication service initiated by the input based on the authentication payload stored in the memory.

  • Patent number: 9104611
Abstract: A signaling error management system handles a syntax error in a signaling message received by a wireless communication network from a wireless communication device. The signaling error management system comprises a processing system and a communication transceiver. The processing system is configured to process text of the signaling message to detect the syntax error, correlate the syntax error to an error code, and correlate the error code to a uniform resource identifier (URI). The communication transceiver is configured to transfer the error code and the URI for delivery to the wireless communication device, wherein the wireless communication device uses the URI to retrieve correction data for the syntax error.

  • Publication number: 20150215273
Abstract: A communication system provides selective access to target wireless communication devices. A naming server system receives naming system registration messages from target wireless communication devices and address requests from user devices. The naming server system determines if the current time is within the access schedule for the target wireless communication device. If the current time is within the access schedule for the target wireless communication device, then the naming server system returns the address for the target wireless communication device. If the current time is not within the access schedule for the target wireless communication device, then the naming server system will respond with a timeframe when the target wireless communication device will be available for access.

  • Patent number: 9088909
Abstract: A radio access system receives packets from a local source of streaming media content via a local connection and from remote packet sources via a remote network. The radio access system communicates with a subscriber station via an air interface that includes an uplink and a downlink. A packet classifier in the radio access system maps packets having the subscriber station's IP address as destination address to the subscriber station's downlink. The subscriber station communicates with a content controller via the remote network to request selected streaming media content. The content controller instructs the radio access system to convey the selected streaming media content from the local source to the subscriber station. In response, the packet classifier maps the packets containing the selected streaming media content to a downlink (either the original downlink or a new one) for transmission to the subscriber station.

  • Patent number: 9049487
Abstract: A wireless communication device receives a menu selection from a user indicating a user preference to receive video with captions instead of audio. The wireless communication device transfers a message indicating the user preference to a wireless communication network. The wireless communication device receives a content selection for the video content from the user and transfers a content request for the video content to the wireless communication network. The wireless communication network obtains and modifies the video content to replace the audio with the captions and transfers the modified video content to the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device displays the modified video content with the captions and without the audio.

  • Patent number: 9049590
Abstract: In a communication system, a control server determines a first quota for a rating group to grant communication usage on a per-user basis and indicates the first quota to a network element. The network element grants communication usage to the users in the rating group based on the first quota. A user communication device receives a user input indicating a user priority and transfers the user priority to the network element. The network element transfers the user priority to the control server. The control server processes the user priority to determine a second quota for the rating group. The network element receives the second quota and grants subsequent communication usage to the users in the rating group based on the second quota.
