  • Patent number: 10021589
Abstract: A communication system controls Quality-of-Service (QoS) using Internet Protocol (IP) address ports. A network controller identifies an IP port range and a QoS level for a user application. The network controller transfers port/QoS data that indicates the IP port range and the QoS level for the user application. A wireless relay and a network gateway receive the port/QoS data. The wireless relay wirelessly exchanges user data with User Equipment (UE) using an IP port in the IP port range. The wireless relay exchanges the user data with the network gateway using the QoS level associated with the IP port range responsive to the use of the IP port by the UE. The network gateway exchanges the user data using the QoS level associated with the IP port range responsive to the use of the IP port by the UE.

  • Publication number: 20180152548
Abstract: A data communication system compresses packet headers. A transmitter executes state machines to process a data packet and determine if a transmitter state machine is transferring Interdependent Machine Output (IMO) data. The transmitter generates an IMO vector that indicates if any IMO data is in the data packet. If IMO is present, then the transmitter augments the IMO vector to indicate the individual transmitter state machines that transferred the IMO data. The transmitter transfers the data packet with the IMO vector to a receiver. The receiver processes the IMO vector to determine if any IMO data is transferred in the data packet. If IMO data is transferred, then the receiver processes the augmented IMO vector to transfer the IMO data to individual receiver state machine that correspond to the transmitter state machines that transferred the IMO data.

  • Patent number: 9967734
Abstract: A wireless access network receives Content Delivery Network (CDN) registration data transferred by a plurality of CDNs. The registration data associates individual wireless communication device identifiers for individual wireless communication devices with individual CDNs. The wireless access network receives CDN signaling from an external data system indicating one of the individual wireless communication device identifiers for an individual one of the wireless communication devices. In response, the wireless access network processes the individual wireless communication device identifier from the external system to identify an associated CDN. The wireless access network then transfers at least a portion of the CDN signaling for delivery to the identified CDN.

  • Patent number: 9948597
Abstract: The invention is directed to methods and systems for facilitating access of a mobile device to web-based services. The web-based service sends identifying information, such as a public IP address and a port number, to a network interface. The network server, which has stored a mapping of the mobile device's private IP address to public IP address, is accessed to determine the private IP address of the mobile device. As the mobile device that requested access to the web-based service is now identified, the mobile device is now allowed to receive data from the web-based service.

  • Patent number: 9936430
Abstract: An example embodiment may involve receiving an attach request related to a WCD. It may be determined that the WCD already has an established bearer session with a first PGW device. Possibly in response to receiving the attach request from the WCD and the WCD already having the established bearer session with the first PGW device, a request for PGW device assignment may be transmitted to a server device. A response from the server device may be received, where the response may indicate assignment of a second PGW device. A create session request may be transmitted to an SGW device. Reception of the create session request may cause the SGW device to establish, for the WCD, a new bearer session to the second PGW device. Establishment of the new bearer session may involve the second PGW device retrieving, from the first PGW device, context information related to the WCD.

  • Patent number: 9888368
Abstract: An Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network uses the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to provide communication services to mobile nodes. A short message service gateway (SMS-GW) in the IMS network receives a request to deliver a message to a mobile node. The SMS-GW determines whether the mobile node is IMS registered. If the mobile node is IMS registered, the SMS-GW may transmit a SIP MESSAGE request to a call session control function (CSCF) serving the mobile node in order to deliver the message to the mobile node. If the mobile node is SIP-capable but is not IMS registered, the SMS-GW may instead transmit a SIP MESSAGE request to the mobile node's IP address. To obtain the mobile node's IP address, the SMS-GW may query a domain name server (DNS) that stores associations between hostnames and IP addresses of mobile nodes.

  • Patent number: 9860137
Abstract: A method and corresponding system to help facilitate the application of service policy rules for client devices while reducing the amount of signaling between network entities is disclosed. In accordance with one example, the wireless network may evaluate the extent to which the service policy rules defined by the UE's service profile have been applied by the wireless network. Based on this evaluating, the network may identify a subset of service policy rules that have been applied to greater than a threshold extent by the network for the given UE. And in response to this identifying, the network may cause the PDP to provision the PEP, with the subset of service policy rules, rather than provision the PEP with every possible service policy rule. As a result, the PDP and PEP may refrain from engaging in excess signaling, and the wireless network, in turn, may enjoy reduced congestion.
