  • Patent number: 8530619
Abstract: The invention relates to materials and procedures for the use of the hepcidin binding domain (HBD) on ferroportin. A 20 amino acid peptide of the HBD was synthesized and shown to recapitulate the characteristics and specificity of hepcidin binding to cell surface ferroportin. The affinity of hepcidin for the HBD peptide permits a rapid, sensitive assay of hepcidin in biological fluids.

  • Publication number: 20130182717
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for a power reduction scheme for Ethernet PHYs are provided. An Ethernet PHY in a link partner may disable transmission via a transmit DAC integrated during an inactive connection, 10Base-T autonegotiation operation, and/or active 10Base-T connection with no data packet transmission. The DAC may be a voltage mode or current mode DAC. The PHY or a MAC device may determine when to disable transmission via the DAC. In this regard, the PHY or the MAC device may generate appropriate signals for disabling the transmission. The DAC may be enabled for transmission by the PHY or the MAC device when a connection becomes active or when an active 10Base-T connection is ready to transmit data. Moreover, the PHY may enable transmission via the DAC when operating in a forced 10Base-T mode of operation and the connection to the link partner is active.

  • Patent number: 8297722
Abstract: A cabinet slide assembly permits the soft-close action and/or a soft-open action of a drawer. The cabinet slide assembly includes a cabinet, a drawer, and at least one slide mechanism coupling the drawer to the cabinet to permit movement of the drawer between a fully open position and a fully closed position. A gas spring is also included in the assembly having a first end coupled to a portion of the cabinet assembly and a second end coupled to a portion of the drawer assembly. The gas spring is permitted to swing through an arc along a vertical plane as the drawer moves between the fully open position and the fully closed position. An adjustable bracket can also be included in the assembly and is configured for a top mount drawer assembly having a concealed drawer slide mechanism. The bracket is also configured for face frame or frameless cabinet construction.

  • Publication number: 20120230860
Abstract: A method for purifying metal M1 particles manufactured by an electrochemical reduction process, the method comprising the steps of introducing the metal M1 particles into a heat source (13) at a temperature substantially equal to or higher than the melting point of M1 so as to cause vaporisation of some or substantially all of the contaminating impurities present, removing the vaporised impurities from the vicinity of the particles, and cooling the purified metal M1 particles. The purified particles can be used directly in lower temperature powder metallurgy processes and have a fully dense spherical particle morphology, imparting good flowability. The purification process can also be incorporated as an integral stage of sheet or stock production processes based on particle feedstocks that have been produced by electrochemical reduction.

  • Patent number: 8139369
Abstract: A printed wiring board includes solder pads to which component leads may be soldered. L-shaped solder pads of the printed wiring board allow component leads to approach the board from any of the four major sides of the printed wiring board. Each solder pad includes two legs and two respective axes. A component lead may be selectively soldered to one of the two legs of the solder pad. Thus, a component lead may approach a solder pad from one of four orthogonal directions.

  • Publication number: 20120049713
Abstract: A drawer slide system having an elongated base channel, an intermediate assembly at least partially received within the elongated base channel, a longitudinally extending I-beam assembly at least partially received within the intermediate assembly, and a pantry mount lock assembly including forward and rearward mounting plates adapted to be coupled to a bottom surface of a drawer. The pantry mount lock assembly can be accessed through the bottom of the drawer to achieve engagement or disengagement between the pantry mount lock assembly and the I-beam assembly. The rearward mounting plates having lateral portions extending over the upper surfaces of the I-beam assembly upper flanges to permit a tilting adjustment of the drawer relative to the drawer slide system. • Patent number: 8091971
Abstract: A soft-close cabinet slide assembly permits the soft-close action and/or a soft-open action of a drawer, and thus the reduction of effort by an operator, when the drawer is opening or closing. The cabinet slide assembly includes a cabinet, a drawer, and at least one slide mechanism coupling the drawer to the cabinet to permit movement of the drawer between a fully open position and a fully closed position. A forcing means for exerting an extension force, preferably a gas spring, is also be included in the soft-close cabinet slide assembly having a first end coupled to the cabinet and a second end coupled to the drawer. Preferably, the soft-close cabinet slide assembly also includes a first and second pivotal coupling, which permit the gas spring to swing through an arc as the drawer moves between the fully open position and the fully closed position.
