  • Patent number: 11968625
Abstract: There are provided measures for enabling/realizing stationarity-based UE power saving, specifically network-assisted power saving at a terminal entity based on local stationarity monitoring and autonomous power saving mode switching. Such measures exemplarily include that a terminal entity operates in a normal power mode, including performing normal radio environment related measurements (such as regular radio resource management measurements and/or cell search measurements) and monitoring a stationarity condition with a local procedure and/or equipment, switches from the normal power mode to a power saving mode, if the locally monitored stationarity condition is satisfied, and operates in the power saving mode, including performing relaxed radio environment related measurements (such as relaxed radio resource management measurements and/or cell search measurements).

  • Publication number: 20240114457
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a simple and power-efficient procedure that allows using wake-up signaling in inter-cell mobility scenarios. The procedure is based on configuring a Wake-Up Signal (WUS) Beacon Occasion (WBO) for each Tracking Area (TA) of a user device. A WUS beacon corresponding to each cell in the TA is transmitted once at a cell-specific time offset within the WBO. The WBO is configured together with a mapping table that maps each of the cell-specific time offsets to cell-specific information. The cell-specific information may comprise a cell ID and/or an indicator of a cell-specific frequency and/or cell-specific frequency range to be used for synchronization signal reception (e.g., Global Synchronization Channel Number (GSCN)). Each TA comprises intra-frequency cells only. By using the WBO, the user device may reduce its power consumption by avoiding switching from its sleep state to its active state when doing cell reselections in the TA.

  • Publication number: 20240089883
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable storage media of signalling enabling Timing Advance (TA) exchange between User Equipment (UE) and Radio Access Network (RAN). The method comprises receiving, at a first device, a TA margin from a second device; transmitting, to the second device, information associated with a reference location of the first device at a first time point; determining a reference TA of the first device at least based on the reference location of the first device; determining an actual TA of the first device at least based on an actual location of the first device at a second time point; and determining, based on a comparison of a TA margin with a difference between the reference TA and the actual TA, whether to transmit an updated reference location of the first device to the second device. In this way, the control for uplink overhead from TA/location updates and probability of impacting downlink scheduling become flexible.

  • Publication number: 20240080772
Abstract: Certain example embodiments provide systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for handling of measurements relaxation and other activity skipping. The user equipment (UE) may be allowed to relax its various measurements if one or more radio link quality-based relaxation conditions are satisfied and based on whether the UE is also allowed, at the same time, to skip other activities. Based on certain embodiments, the UE may perform the measurements, if another activity has to be performed since relaxation may not provide any power saving benefit under such situation.

  • Publication number: 20240073862
Abstract: According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a first device receives a configuration of a paging indication from a second device. The configuration indicates how to monitor the paging indication and mapping between the paging indication and a set of paging occasions. The first device monitors a paging message in a paging occasion associated with the first device. In this way, it can reduce latency and save power at the first device. Further, it also saves signaling for paging.

  • Publication number: 20240007181
Abstract: Apparatus and method for communication in non-terrestrial networks are provided. Downlink transmissions are received (400) from one or more non-terrestrial nodes. Signal strengths and/or signal quality of the transmissions are measured (402) from the one or more non-terrestrial nodes. Transitions between line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight states regarding the one or more non-terrestrial nodes are determined (404). Locations of the one or more non-terrestrial nodes and the apparatus are determined (406) and elevation and azimuth angles to the one or more non-terrestrial nodes from the apparatus are calculated (408). A database of the line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight states is generated (410) as a function of elevation and azimuth angles and apparatus location and utilised (412) to determine expected line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight states for non-terrestrial nodes.

  • Publication number: 20230269029
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for conditional hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK). For instance, a user equipment (UE) may estimate, during reception of a downlink transmission with x repetitions, an amount of extra energy that may be needed to help ensure successful decoding. The UE may then express this estimate as a quantity of repetitions (y) needed for successful reception, and may inform the radio access network (RAN) of this quantity (e.g., at least one round-trip time (RTT) before the last repetition of the x repetitions is sent). The RAN may handle this message as a conditional positive ACK. The RAN may send the quantity of repetitions y, and may implicitly assume an ACK for that TBS after sending the y repetitions. The RAN may send the next transport blocks (TBS) for that HARQ process after completing transmission of they repetitions.
