  • Patent number: 7296591
Abstract: A valve arrangement for reciprocating machine, where the arrangement (1) comprises an in-valve (18) and an out-valve (19), each valve (18), (19) being a springloaded one-way valve designed to open for flow when the pressure differential in the direction of flow provides a force that exceeds the spring tension, wherein the valves (18, 19) are mounted in a casing (8) that forms or is connected to the cylinder head of the reciprocating engine (2). The in-valve (18) and the out-valve (19) are mounted in a sleeve (16) designed to be fitted in a bore (9) in the casing (8), and where fluid may flow to the sleeve (16) from an inlet (11) in the casing (8) and into the sleeve (16) via the in-valve (18), and where the sleeve (16) is provided with at least one perforated area where fluid may flow radially out of or into the sleeve (16) via holes (50, 51), thereby flowing to or from a passage (14, 15) that forms a perpendicular or near perpendicular connection with the bore (9).

  • Patent number: 7036396
Abstract: In spinner tongs, a so-called spinner (30), incorporated in an iron roughneck and thus serving to rotate a drill pipe during connection thereof to a drill string or during division of the drill string into individual pipes, the aim has been to reduce damage on the threaded connections (the pin-and-box joints) in the screwing/unscrewing operations. This is realised in an operation for the simultaneous centering and rotating of the drill pipe. Four spinner rollers (42) known in themselves, which are brought to bear on the drill pipe when surrounding it, are mounted according to the invention, preferably in pairs, at the outer ends of driven clamping arms (46), by bogies (50). At their opposite outer ends the clamping arms (46) are pivotally supported on a fixed frame part/structure (56) and are jointed to each other by means of a piston and cylinder (48) driven by pressure fluid and arranged to carry the clamping arms (46) towards and away from each other.

  • Publication number: 20050263288
Abstract: A device for tensioning and relieving production tubing (49) extending from a subsea hydrocarbon well (107) up through a riser (63) to a floating installation (87), a continuous production tubing extension (85) passing through a telescopic unit (67) in the upper part of the riser (63), preferably extending above a production deck (89) on the floating installation (87), where the production tubing (49) is provided with a tubing tensioner unit (1) below and in the proximity of the lower end of the telescopic unit (67).

  • Publication number: 20050077049
Abstract: An apparatus and method for protecting against the problems associated with heave of a floating drilling rig are disclosed. The disclosed invention is a unique inline compensator in which a plurality of cylinders housed within a tubular housing and a plurality of low pressure and high pressure accumulators function together to provide a system for compensating for heave in the event a primary heave compensation system fails or becomes inoperative. The typical inline compensator of the present invention utilizes a plurality of hydraulic cylinders that act in opposite directions and that have different piston areas such that the piston rods of the cylinders are extended or retracted at different pressure levels to account for heave. The typical inline compensator of the present invention is self-contained and compact enough to fit in the limited space available on a floating drilling structure. Further, a pair of inline compensators of the present invention can be utilized with coiled tubing operations.

  • Patent number: 4246781
Abstract: Arrangement for measuring tension loading in wires. A winch has a foundation-forming, first base member and a second base member permanently connected to the former member by way of shanks disposed therebetween. A support arm is mounted in between the base members with connection therewith on opposite sides of a gap formed by the shanks. A cell is arranged in the support arm for determining tension or pressure forces by measuring mutual movements of the second base member relative to the first base member. An indicating device is electrically connected to the cell enabling measured results to be displayed as an expression of the tension loading in the wire.
