  • Patent number: 8289976
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system adapting broadband access equipment to query customer premises switches of a medium access control address located on its physical interface to the customer premises equipment. All customer premises switches are receiving a first request, hereby conducting a lookup in their medium access control address table for the medium access control address. When finding a matching table entry, the customer premises switch housing the medium access control address (MAC) in its table replies with a port name of the specific downlink port, thus identifying the port location of the accessing customer premises equipment and automatically providing a CPE with the correct service depending on which port the CPE is connected to. The customer premises switch is periodically scanning the medium access control address table, continuously transmitting table entries to broadband access equipment.

  • Publication number: 20120087257
Abstract: Methods of performing intra-band carrier aggregation in a multi-tiered wireless network include determining a capability of a user equipment unit located within an overlapping coverage area of first and second radio network nodes to simultaneously receive data on a first component carrier and on a second component carrier from the first and second network nodes, and simultaneously transmitting data to the user equipment unit using the first and second component carriers from different radio network nodes in response to determining that the user equipment unit is capable of simultaneously receiving data on the first component carrier and on the second component carrier from different radio network nodes.

  • Publication number: 20120082152
Abstract: Methods may be providing for signal synchronization at a wireless terminal communicating with a radio access network. For example, a command may be received from the radio access network, and the command may be to add a first carrier on a first frequency as a link for communications from the radio access network to the wireless terminal. Responsive to receiving the command to add the first carrier, the first carrier may be synchronized and/or configured using signals of a second carrier on a second frequency different than the first frequency. Related wireless terminals, network nodes, and network node methods are also discussed.

  • Publication number: 20120039330
Abstract: A method of providing signal synchronization for a radio access network may include transmitting a first carrier including synchronization signals on a first frequency from the radio access network. Information relating the first carrier on the first frequency with a second carrier on a second frequency may be transmitted from the radio access network, with this information being intended to be used in synchronization by a wireless terminal upon addition of the second carrier. More particularly, the first and second frequencies may be different. A command to add the second carrier as a downlink for transmissions may be transmitted to the wireless terminal. Related network nodes and wireless terminals are also discussed.

  • Publication number: 20110103243
Abstract: Flexible carrier aggregation is provided for a radio communications system. A capability is determined to communicate over a radio interface using multiple radio frequency component carriers. Each of the multiple component carriers is configurable with one or more control channels in a first mode of operation and with no control channels in a second mode of operation. Configuration information for one of the multiple radio frequency component carriers is signaled to indicate at least one of the component carriers is configured to operate in a selected one of the first mode of operation and the second mode of operation so that a network radio node and a user equipment radio node can communicate using the selected mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 7620655
Abstract: A method of identifying a visitor of a website in a wide area network is presented. An information signal is received which has been generated in response to the visitor visiting the website. The website visited is identified from the information signal. A network address of the visitor is determined. By using the network address, a database is searched to identify an organization with which the visitor is associated. A report is provided which includes information pertaining to the website visited and the organization with which the visitor is associated.

  • Patent number: 7351996
Abstract: The present invention comprises a tunneling device in which the collector electrode is modified so that tunneling of higher energy electrons from the emitter electrode to the collector electrode is enhanced. In one embodiment, the collector electrode is contacted with an insulator layer, preferably aluminum or silicon nitride, disposed between the collector and emitter electrodes. The present invention additionally comprises a method for enhancing tunneling of higher energy electrons from an emitter electrode to a collector electrode, the method comprising the step of contacting the collector electrode with an insulator, preferably aluminum or silicon nitride, and placing the insulator between the collector electrode and the emitter electrode.

  • Patent number: 7323216
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for applying a coating on an end of an optical fiber by dipping said end into a unsolidified coating liquid. In a first sequence, the fiber end is moved towards the surface (18) of the liquid by a gripping means (11). The distance between the end face (26) of the fiber and the surface of the liquid is measured continuously by measuring means including a vision camera (23). The measured actual distance value is compared with a preset distance value and the first moving sequence is ended when the actual distance value is equal to the preset value. In a second sequence, the fiber end is dipped a predetermined depth in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 6832124
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for and a method of shaping an end face 230 of an optical fiber 26. The end face 230 is heated by a heat source 204, 206 in order to form a substantially hemispherical end face 230, which functions as a lens and has a predetermined radius value. An actual radius value of the end face is repetitively calculated by a control computer 6 using information from an image processing device 4, which computer 6 then compares the actual radius value with the predetermined radius value. The heating of the end face is continued if the actual radius value is lower than the predetermined radius value, and discontinued if the actual radius value is equal to or higher than the predetermined radius value.
