  • Publication number: 20160179867
Abstract: Techniques are described that determine occurrences of lost write by comparing version identifiers of corresponding replica data blocks and checkpoints of data files that include the data blocks. A method determines lost writes that may have occurred among a first set of data blocks and a second set of data blocks. Each data block in the first set of data blocks corresponds to a respective data block in the second set that is a version of data blocks in the first set. The data blocks in the first set and the second set are associated with version identifiers. The second set of data blocks is associated with a second checkpoint for which any version of a data block in the second set associated a version identifier below the second checkpoint has been acknowledged to a database server as having been written to persistent storage.

  • Patent number: 9373097
Abstract: A system and method for tracking passengers during travel events and generating alerts if rules for those travel events are violated includes readers, which are installed in vehicles and obtain location data from one or more positioning systems. As passengers enter or exit the vehicles, the passengers swipe access cards in the readers. The readers then tag passenger identity information with the obtained location data. This information is then transmitted to a monitoring system, which generates rules for each of the travel event of the passengers. During the travel events, the received location data and time information is analyzed and to determine if any of the vehicles are violating the generated rules. The monitoring system generates alerts if any of the generated rules are violated.

  • Publication number: 20160173350
Abstract: Ethernet fault management systems and methods using programmable Type-Length-Value (TLV) offsets combine software-based Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) protocol support with hardware-based fault management support to delegate generation and processing of OAM protocol messages to hardware devices with the software-based protocol support used to program hardware based on fixed offsets in the OAM protocol messages. The hardware can be designed to be flexible since the hardware can be agnostic to the logic within the OAM protocol which would reside in the software. The Ethernet fault management systems and methods combine the flexibility of software-based approaches with the speed and efficiency of hardware-based approaches.

  • Publication number: 20160164794
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for detecting and correcting mismatches between a flow's size and the path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) size. In embodiments, a controller is notified of a new flow's size and compares that to the route path's MTU size. If the controller recognizes a mismatch, it informs an information handling device, such as the first-hop router, to notify the sender of the correct path MTU size—thereby effectively and efficiency notifying the sender to correct the MTU size for that flow.
