  • Patent number: 9396152
Abstract: A device to process data packets for communication across PHY layers which are of different respective communication protocols. In an embodiment, the device includes a first protocol stack and a second protocol stack which are each for a PCIe™ communication protocol. The first protocol stack and a second protocol stack may interface, respectively, with a first physical (PHY) layer and a second PHY layer of the device. The first protocol stack and the second protocol stack may exchange packets to facilitate communications via both the first PHY layer and the second PHY layer. In another embodiment, the first PHY layer is for communication according to the PCIe™ communication protocol and the second PHY layer is for communication according to another, comparatively low power communication protocol.

  • Patent number: 9396052
Abstract: Techniques are described for validating a disaster recovery plan. In an embodiment, a request is received to perform a validation of a disaster recovery operation plan that includes a set of instructions for performing a disaster recovery operation with respect to a first site and a second site. In response to receiving the request to perform the validation of the disaster recovery operation plan, a set of one or more validation operations is performed with respect to the disaster recovery operation plan. Based on the set of one or more validation operations, a report is generated that identifies one or more issues that may prevent the disaster recovery operation plan from executing properly.

  • Patent number: 9395494
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed toward techniques and configurations for an optical device having a semiconductor layer to propagate light and a mirror disposed inside the semiconductor layer and having echelle grating reflective surface to substantially totally internally reflect the propagating light inputted by one or more input waveguides, to be received by one or more output waveguides. The waveguides may be disposed in the semiconductor layer under a determined angle relative to the mirror reflective surface. The determined angle may be equal to or greater than a total internal reflection angle corresponding to the interface, to provide substantially total internal reflection of light by the mirror. The mirror may be formed by an interface of the semiconductor layer comprising the mirror reflective surface and another medium filling the mirror, such as a dielectric. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20160203615
Abstract: Video analytics is used to track an object of interest represented in video data representing the field of view of a scene observed by a video camera. A multidimensional virtual beam is used to detect whether the tracked object of interest is continually present in a detection zone within the field view of the scene. An occurrence of an event is signaled when the tracked object of interest is continually present in the detection zone during a period beginning when the tracked object of interest enters the detection zone and ending when the tracked object of interest leaves the detection zone through the opposite side, after having completely crossed through the detection zone. Use of a virtual beam detection zone reduces false alarms as compared to the numbers of incidences of false alarms of traditional detection methods, while adding several features and benefits.

  • Publication number: 20160205422
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for reducing video communication bandwidth requirements of a video surveillance network camera system that includes network communication paths between network video cameras producing video streams of scenes observed by the network video cameras and content-aware computer networking devices analyzing by video analytics video visual content of the video streams to provide managed video representing, at specified quality levels, samples of the scenes observed. Distribution of the managed video consumes substantially less network bandwidth than would be consumed by delivery through network communication paths a video stream at the specified quality level in the absence of analysis by the video analytics.

  • Publication number: 20160203418
Abstract: A method and system for teaching an object of a deictic reference to a machine. A processor of the machine teaches the object of the deictic reference to the machine which results in the machine learning the object. The teaching includes: the processor finds an item in a region indicated by a physical pointing gesture, by the user, that points to the object; the processor shines a laser light on the item and in response, the processor receives a negative spoken indication from the user that the item shined on by the laser light is not the object; in response to the negative spoken indication from the user, the processor interacts with the user in an iterative procedure wherein the machine learns the object in a final iteration of the procedure. The processor stores the learned object in a storage repository.

  • Publication number: 20160203074
Abstract: An adapter can execute a test script in parallel relative to separate tenant installations in a multi-tenant environment. Such tenant installations can be established within a cloud computing environment. Multiple tenant installations may share some installation components, such as an application server and/or a database, so that these shared installation components are not duplicated. While executing the test script in parallel, the adapter can translate selected values for each test script execution so that those values are distinguished from corresponding values within other test script executions. The values can be translated to reflect the identity of the tenant whose installation the test script execution targets. Furthermore, while executing the test scripts in parallel, the adapter can cause the test script executions to synchronize at specified points within the test script, so that all of the test script executions are guaranteed to have executed to a common point before proceeding.
